Savitansh Srivastava's Review On The LNM Institute Of Information Technology - [LNMIIT], Jaipur

The college had very good infrastructure and all things needed to make one of top institutes of country but it needs to improve on research output , brand recognition , placements , faculty standard etc to make it comparable to top colleges like IITs , BITS etc.

AIEEE 2007 - AIR 9000 , UPTU SEE - Rank 1898 , JEE 2007 - Extended merit list. I opted for this college because I was getting branch of my choice , the institute is associated with reputed personality i.e Mr Lakshmi Mittal the steel tycoon.

The course curriculum was derived from IIT Kanpur for first two years we were taught foundation courses like Physics , Maths , Semiconductor electronics , Basic C programming etc. After that we could take optional courses and then final year project. The course standard for EC was great. They were taught by renowned professors of the field. But CS course standard was average there was faculty shortage who could encourage research in Computer Science but the faculty of foundation courses was one of the best in country and one was even a Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar awardee.

The college didn't provide assistance for summer internship at companies but some students were referred by faculty to programs at IITs , CERN , INRIA and other reputed foreign universities. Apart from that every year 25 students were selected for internship at Arcelor Mittal plant at Kazakhstan. They had to pay around third of total expenses. Recently the college has initiated summer school program where students from and outside college can work on good research projects.

The college had 100 percent placements. Many were selected in multiple companies. But average package was around 4 lpa. This was much low compared to other comparable institutes like IIITs , NITs etc at that time. Some of major recruiters were Samsung , TCS , Ericsson , MindTree , Future First , Tech Mahindra , IGate etc. Samsung recruited around dozen. More information available at college placement site. Since the college had begun short while ago hence lack of good companies. But current scenario is much better. Currently the alumni are working at top tier companies like Microsoft , Amazon , Oracle , Cisco , Visa , Synopsys , Intel , Flipkart , Snapdeal etc.

The college has yearly techno cultural management fest called Vivacity. It is grand and comparable to likes of other reputed colleges. Crowd from almost all local engineering colleges come during the fest which lasts for three days. Some of major events were fashion show , dance and singing , gaming , rock band , technical contests , arts , fun events and celebrity night.

The fees was low compared to other private colleges. With respect to infrastructure , labs , faculty salary etc the fees asked was apt. By end of fourth year we had to pay around 1 lac yearly fees which included hostel , mess , library , internet , misc charges.

The college doesn't provide loans or scholarship directly students need to apply to banks for availing loans.

The campus life was good there were many extra curricular activities like sports , fest , coding contests , gaming contests , festive celebration , music , dance clubs etc. The college had basketball court , football and cricket ground , gym , auditorium , music room which students could use the students were provided financial assistance by college for things like robotics , electronics equipments , fest organization etc gender ratio was a little screwed. Girl to boy ratio was 1:5. There was good diversity with students coming from states like Rajasthan, UP , Bihar , MP , Haryana , AP etc.

Hostel facilities were good. There were two boys and one girls hostel. First three years boys had to live in twin sharing room and in final year they were given single occupancy rooms. The hostel room had bed , almirah , notice board, lan port , air cooler ducts etc.Staying in hostels was compulsory for all.Mess food was average. It was mostly veg with non veg being served separately on few occasions. The food veriety was fine. Mess provided breakfast , lunch and dinner. Apart from mess there was a canteen , ice cream parlor.

The college has recently actively engaged in improving its alumni network from each year alumni representative is selected to provide assistance to current students the college also hosts yearly alumni meet where they are invited to give talks and share experiences. The senior students were helpful in providing guidance in terms of future planning , job openings etc.

The exam structure was some tough. There were two mid semester and one end sem exam. Some of course papers were tough to crack. The grading system took assignments , exams and mini project into consideration. Also some of courses had weekly labs like Physics , Electronics , Data structures etc. The course load was average and students had enough time to spend on personal activities.

The faculty profile was great with most of them being retired professors of IIT Kanpur and other top universities like Purdue etc. The infrastructure is very good and previous years cutoff ranks were good i.e closing rank around AIR 9200 hence I opted for this college.
