Very minimal and efficient management. Lot of liberty to students. Students are well respected and encouraged by admin and professors.
Entrance Preview
I took IIT JEE all India 837 It was the best at that time :) and even now. There were only five IITs at that time,IIT Madras,IIT Delhi,IIT Kharagpur,IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur. Though it was very far from home Hyderabad, I preferred to go there because kanpur had an Airstrip and gliding club. Also the Physiscs department of Kanpur was the best in India at that time Physics was my favourite subject.
Course Curriculum Overview
First two years all department students do common courses. Last two years we have department specific courses. We also have one humanities and social sciences elective per semester.
Internships Opportunities
I did internship at Vikram sarabhai space center (VSSC) Trivandrum. I don't think i got paid for that. We got subsidised food in the VSSC campus but we had to bear our own expenses.
Placement Experience
Many IT companies came to campus and maufacturing comapnies like SAIL,P&G,ITC,TISCO,TELCO etc and software companies like Infosys and TCS and Wipro used to come.
College Events
CULFEST was the cultural fest and we had one sports fest called inter iit hosted by each iit in rotation. We also have an inter hostel festival called Galaxy.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very negligible fee is nominal. Heavily subsidised by the government. Hostel fee was also negligible. Only big expense was mess food which used to be around Rs 450 in 1990 cheap.
Fees and Financial Aid
At that time fee was subsidised so one didn't need any scholarship. NTSC national Talent search examination was there for CBSE students.
Campus Life
Best campus life huge and spacious far from the city life,lots of greenery and peacocks. Good facilities for hobbies swimming,photography club,movies club,Gym,NCC,NSS etc.
Hostel Facilities
Excellent and well ventilated decent sixed rooms. Toilets could have been better but seen worse ones in other hostels.
Alumni/Alumna
Very connected alumni every city has a local alumni chapter frequent interactions with other alumni. Alumni chapters exist in alll big european and americal and asian cities.
Exam Structure
Semester structure. Two sems per year 4 months each. Two mid semester exams and a final end-semester exam. Lots of surprise Quizzes randomly during the semester.
Faculty
All Faculty were Ph.Ds from US and other international universities. They were experts in their field and challenged the stuidents with tough problems and exams.
