Devesh Sharma's Review On Indian Institute Of Science Education And Research - [IISER], Mohali

As I was very interested from the beginning in pure science and want to pursue my career in science field. Amazing research environment and helping nature of professor is cherry on top. As Institute it self comes under MHRD so the basic necessary facilities are good. Beside this college life and it's reviews present on internet also attracts me.

Well the courses at iisers was pretty good and anyone can cop up with that course. It provides you a large and good opportunity to read and enter into the pure field of science. Books and article papers is easily available at campus. Faculties at iiser are super amazing. They make sure the comfortness of students. Prefer more practical knowledge so that students can get the things easily. And which is a good thing according to me. Dr. Biswas from physics Department comes in my mind if someone ask me about the faculty. Great man with amazing sense of humor. He done his phd from iit roorkee and also one of the important member of the selection committee which select new phd scholars.

I am trying hard to get internship but didn't get it.

No company visites in our college as it is purely research based Institute. Students from all over India come to study and enhance there knowledge. Students pursue phd generally in foreign countries which become easier if you have iiser tag.

Insomnia is the fest name of iiser mohali. Each year it is organised by the college in late feb and starting of March. College from local areas are invited. Singing competition, Dancing competition, art culture, and such other events are organised. Participation of other colleges are good in numbers as well as in quantity too. Dj nights are also organised by the college time to time.

Kvpy and inspire scholarship are the scholarship provided by our college. students in first year are available for the kvpy scholarship to give exams and get qualified for the scholarship. Inspire scholarship is given on the basis of board percentage. Amount give in both the scholarship is 80000 per annum.

Campus infrastructure is amazing and can beat any of the foreign university easily. However campus area is not big as iits., but is pretty much cool and students can enjoy their free time easily. Sports facilities are great. Almost each sports like football, cricket, tennis, volleyball, basketball, etc are played. Inter and intra iisers are organised by the college each year. Library of iiser mohali is one of the best library in ASIA. Our library also gets an award for being the best library in India. It was rated in top libraries of the country few years back. Wifi speed is not as same as mention in the college website. Availability of wifi is very poor in hostel rooms but yeah it gives good speed at library and in classes. Anyone can use infinite amount of internet, means there is no limitations over the consumption of internet. Equipment in labs are great. Updated and are original. Also the number of equipments are sufficient such that 100 students can perform task at a particular time.

Hostels are good and a way better than I imagined before I stepped into the college. For the first 2 yrs of graduation you have toh shear your room with your partner. After that you will get your own room. Rooms are designed for one person. Hostels are co-ed. So yeah., both girls and boys lives in same hostel, however the buildings are same but path to access is different and it's totally safe for girls. This is done to introduce forign university culture. Facilities are arranged in that way the no. Of hostel rooms will never become less for the students. So chill, everyone gets room easily. Hostel facilities are good. Each floor consists 8 bathrooms and 8 toilets(both type). Also around 20-25 students live at one floor. Also study rooms are also available in each hostel. Canteens and amazing food are also present there.
