I wanted to pursue mechanical engineering and mechanics department in this college is really good. It is a well recognised NIT and is in the list of top 10 NITs. The college is away from the noise and shouts of the city.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus and the subjects are same for every engineering branch in the first year. From second year, what i have heard from the seniors is that the syllabus of mechanics is so well organized between both theoretical and practical approach that no student faces any difficulty in understanding the concepts. Mechanical students are taken to a lot of industrial visits and shown how the actual production in the industry takes place. Faculty are really very kind and always ready to clear your doubts. One of them Mr.Rajesh Sharma who teaches Engineering Mechanics is brilliant in the field. He has an answer for your every doubt.
Placement Experience
For mechanical engineering, the placements here are good. Top level companies like HONDA, NISSAN, HYUNDAI, MAHINDRA recruit students from here. Students who are offered the post in R&D are given the highest packages. Highest package was 16lpa and avg is 5.5lpa. Alumni network is not too good as I have hardly seen any alumni visiting the college again.
College Events
There are 3 major technical fests like technoversa, techniti, IEEE day etc and one big annual fest. All the societies for music, dance, theatre, literature are very active. College promotes extracurricular activities a lot.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, there are currently 4 scholarships provided here apart from the fee waivers for reserved category students. there is 100% tuition fee waiver for sc/st/phd students 100% tuition fee waiver for students whose family income is less than 1lpa 65% tuition fee waiver for students with family income 1-5lpa. Scholarships provided are - 1) Akash Saxena Memorial Scholarship (for cse topper)/ 2) Central Sector scholarship (for top SC/ST students) 3) Post Matric scholarship (for SC students) 4) ONGC scholarship
Campus Life
Campus is pretty good with an area of 153 acres WIFI is available throughout the campus. Sports is promoted a lot here and hence all sports grounds are well maintained. Library is very big in size and all the books are available. Labs have all the equipment.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, i am a college hosteler. Hostels are decent with all facilities like water cooler, Fans, medical dispensary available. There are 4 canteens in the college. There are enough rooms in the hostels to accommodate all the students who opt for hostels. Seperate hostels for girls. Rooms are on single sharing,double sharing and triple sharing. Per semester the total hostel cost is 30k including the mess charges.
