Kanishka Patra's Review On IIM Ranchi - Indian Institute Of Management, Ranchi

IIM Ranchi is one of the premier institutes in the country offering management education. Within a short span of ten years, it has established itself among the elite and is still growing at a rapid pace. It was ranked 20 in the NIRF management rankings 2020 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The institute is renowned for its Marketing specialization, which I am keen to pursue.

The course curriculum is comprehensive, comprising of mandatory courses in the first year covering all aspects of management, and various electives in the second year, from which one can choose as per his or her interests. Many recent case studies are included and the focus is on imparting skills which are currently in demand, for example, Data Analytics, Applications of AI and Digital Marketing. There is plenty of industry exposure to be gained- a two- month summer internship at the end of the first year is a mandatory part of the course, and the college hosts several industry experts who impart industry insights, throughout the year. Apart from this, the students of the college have several opportunities to participate in various Business case study competitions of different major companies and solve real life business problems. The faculties in this college are among the best in the country, and this is reflected in the classes. Every class here is an opportunity to gain an incredible amount of information and know-how. The faculties make you look at problems from several different perspectives, while always inviting you to exercise your own wisdom and knowledge to solve them. They value every student, and are easily approachable.

94 companies visited the campus for the 2018-20 batch. They include Capgemini, IBM, HP, Maruti Suzuki, Accenture, Deloitte, JPMC, HSBC, Amazon, Reliance, Tata Steel, among others. Some of the roles offered were Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Investment Analyst, Wealth Management, Business Strategist, Brand Manager. E-Cell at IIM Ranchi invites various eminent entrepreneurs to share their experiences, and conducts business workshops, case studies and knowledge camps throughout the year.

IIM Ranchi hosts a wide range of festivals throughout the year: AGON, the management festival of the college Radix, the business conclave of the college. RUSH, the cultural and sports festival of the college. These events are held on a national scale, and are enthusiastically participated in by some of the top colleges in the country.
