An Amazing Experience at Xaviers Kolkata

Good : The college offers an amazing learning experience not only academically but also in every other way. Out of the Box thinking is encouraged which meets the College logo : Nihil Ultra : Nothing beyond.Bad: The College is too harsh with discipline.

Exam : Class XII Score : 92.5% (Best 4 Including English and Mathematics) I chose this college because of its very vibrant brand image. The college happens to be more than a hundred and fifty years old which only adds up to its very old and very rich heritage. Even the grass on the fields there is a half and a century old thus.

The Course Curriculum : Upto date and as per Industry Standards. The Curriculum of the College is drafted by the college itself as it is an autonomous institution under University of Calcutta.

I did not pursue any internship opportunities as provided by the College as I was pursuing Chartered Accountancy course and was undergoing compulsory training of CA Course. The internship opportunities in company were generally very excellent and companies from a myriad of sectors like banking, BPO, Designing, KPO, Financial Consultancy, Investment Banks etc came.

Most of the students who opted for placements got placed.Companies like google, future first, Axis Bank, E nd Y were among the major recruiters. A lot of students though including me opted for higher studies.

The College Union celebrates its annual Festival Xavotsav which has seen the likes of Bands like Euphoria performing. The Annual Alumni Event " Beyond Barriers" also sees bands like Euphoria performing.Various societies of college like XCS, XMS, XADAM have their annual inter college competitions and fests as well.

The Fees is very Reasonable. I had to shell out Rs 30000 for the 3 year BCom Course. The College is not a money minting institution and the jesuits definately spend more on the students than they take from them.

The college does offer support to students who are unable to pursue their students because of financial constraints. Only a letter to father is required in this regard.Money is not a limiting factor for education at xaviers and the fees is also very reasonable. Loans can be availed from banks as well if needed.

The Campus life was amazing. We had regular sports event in football, Table Tennis, Cricket etc. Various socieites in the campus also kept on organizing various events and fests.

I Did not stay in hostel so I cant give a first hand experience. My friends who stayed in the hostel were always happy about their hostel life with an amazing set of stories to share. But they had food issues at hostel as well.

The Alunmi Network and bonds at xaviers are very strong. We have a alumni room where every saturday alumni members come and have a meet. Various chapters across the globe also help in strengthing this network.

The Exam schedule is quite hectic.College follows a semester system but there are also regular tests called CIA before the semester exams which carry a certain weightage in the final score.

Faculty : The Faculty is very helpful and is always more than willing to guide students. We are always encouraged to meet our professors after the classes for any problems and there are extra classes as well for underperforming students in the regular tests.
