Ameya Uday Joshi's Review On Visvesvaraya National Institute Of Technology - [VNIT], Nagpur

I chose this college because it is situated in the city where I reside. I applied for all the branches but I only got an offer from metallurgical engineering in VNIT, so I had no option apart from enrolling into it.

The course syllabus should be revised. There many courses very similar to each other. No proper sequence of teaching. I acquired industrial exposure in 3 industries by applying offline. Prof. Ajeet Srivastava is an amazing guide and a teacher in metallurgy dept. with good research publications and experience and also float cutting edge research topics for phd and mtech students. He is also a very humble and supportive faculty.

IIT BHU - Research project intern without stipend. Emailed the prof. for the offer. Nalco-aluminiun smelter ( project vocational trainee without stipend)-got it through personal contacts. Vizag Steel- 1 month industrial training without stipend - applied through vizag steel website.

VNIT has very poor industry interaction and do not have good placements in core of any branch. It's better to go for non core companies. CORE companies in metallurgy- TATA steel, Reliance industry limited, Essar steel, Vedanta( not regular), Hindalco ( not regular), Jindal steel( not regular), Mukund sumi special steel, Welspan, etc. In non core there are many companies like fractal analytics, Siemens,TCS, IBM,etc and also give PPOs. Check the website. Placement procedure- Apply through Google forms and TNP will display shortlist and date. Companies may come anywhere in-between the 7th and 8th sem.

VNIT students organize Arohi and Axis events which are central India's some of the largest cultural and technological festivals.There are wide variety of intresting events in which we can organize, volunteer,participate,learn and develop our personalities.

Education loan can be sanction from the SBI vrce located very close to the campus or Canara bank inside the campus for those having financial problems.

The sports facilities and available but sport equipments like table tennis bat-ball, badminton rackets etc are not available in bulk. Sports complex is well maintained and vnit also have genuinely good play ground and cricket pitch. You will also encounter many indoor game enthusiasts like in chess, Table tennis and badminton.No open Wifi is available in the campus. Library is big and also consist of a reading room but,not enough number of copies of same author are available and hence we have to rush to get the books during registration before our batch mates.

I was a localite. But as per my knowledge the hostel and mess facilities are average or more precisely below average but some newer hostels that are being constructed might have good or average facilities. But, they have good wifi speed, night canteen and GYM is also available inside the campus but away from hostel.
