My college experience

They should strongly work on placement as apart from that everything is good in this college.

I gave AAIDU entrance exams which was SHIATS old name. I got good ranking and was eligible to appear for top ranking courses counselling. The reason i choose this college was because the college environment was very good and this was the one of the few colleges at that time which was providing B.Tech in biotechnology.

Course curriculum was good and covers a vast area of biotechnology along with engineering subjects. Its also gave us option of choosing from three specialization of Biochemistry, Microbiology and genetic Engg. For first year the course curriculum was same for all and after that you can choose from three streams.

No, their were no internship option, we have to search for summer projects work even on our own. Their were no options of placement also. Their placement cell was newly developed and our department was not on their priority.

Pathetic, Their were job opportunities only for Agri and dairy department. Hardly ant company use to come for biotechnology as a department They all come for only agricultural department or dairy technology. For biotech their were only seniors help.

We have events round the year, Udgosh was one of the major ones. We have all the parties like fresher and then farewell for different departments and one of college overall. It was a happening campus from people from almost all over India. So we have a good cultural mix.

Fee structure was on expensive side. It use to be 25k for free seat and 50 k for management seat / Per semester. So the total fees for B.Tech was 2 Lakh for free seat and 4 lakh for management seat students. As the city was not that expensive so it hardly matters.

Loans were available but scholarship was more on approach rather than academics. They use to have full fees scholarship also.

Gender ration in college was 60-40 but in our class was 70-30. Females were dominating the class side. College environment was very good with very less outsider interference. There were students from several countries for Agri courses. Their were no politics as such.

Again it was below average, Rooms were small and mess has only one food that was available. They provide food three times a day but hygienic was not maintained. Rooms were very small with only one fan and light that too very old one. They were building one new hostel also.

Alumni network was week but senior students were very helpful with no ragging whatsoever. Seniors use to help us in almost all aspects.

Exams structure was good, it includes assignments and written both the formats. They were not very frequent but towards the end of every six month so it was easy to cope up with exams and all the extra curricular activities. For final year you only have to submit a desserattion work along with one round of Viva.

Faculty was average with only few qualified teachers rest were research fellows or pass out of agricultural institute only. Most of the faculties were doing some or the other course to enhance their skills. Only few of the faculty members were highly qualified.
