Sagar Bajpai's Review On Amity University, Lucknow

College is good but not appropriate for engineering especially in terms of fees. College has a very lavish life style but lacks in research. For courses like Law, finearts, Mass com, it is the best college I would say. But for engineering, I would not recommend for any studious student.

There is no need of any entrance for Admission in Amity. Anyone can take admission here. There is test organize by the Amity followed by interview for students who seeks admission here but test is just for the show. Whoever gives the test get successfully admission. Students having more than 88% in PCM plus One language like English. gets direct admission.

"Course structure is according to AICTE. However, university is not approved by AICTE. But there's no need of that. Course structure in Amity is very hectic. There are 11 subjects in 1st semester. Unlike, other colleges, here you have to study one compulsory foreign language like German, French & also have to pass it with good marks. From one side, it is good and there is a need of such skills in today's competitive world, but on the other side, you'll find, no body gives any important to these extra subjects. But students already have lots of pressure regarding other core subjects that they are not able to focus on extra subjects. System is strict. Whatever have to happen, will happen by a recognized process here. 75% attendance is must in every subject else you'll get debard (not allowed to give examination). There is no such atmosphere of research here."

College itself do not provide any internship. But many companies do visit here because of the name of Amity. Intellectual student can apply anytime personally to such companies fro internship. Somehow, it depends on a student's ability to make personal relation with the company's employ. Amity organizes lots of conferences, mostly on international level, where giant companies took part. Mean while, students get lots of time to spent with the persons related to company, where they can show their interest for internships.

Placements are not so good. Or I would say, about to nil. Only CSE department get 100% placement. This year, CSE department again receives 100% placement. Maximum package is not so maximum. It is about to 4 lacks. Departments like Electrical & Electronics may get placement but not very high. Civil & Mechanical, hardly receives any placement. This year, no one placed.

Almost Every month, there is any program. Each semester may contain one or two international conferences. There is a annual sports fest "Sanagathan" organizes every year. It organized at a reality big level. Students expertise in various sports can take part & the winners get a chance to compete at Amity Noida. "Amiphoria" is the annual cultural fest. It is one of the biggest fest in the city. Celebrities visits are common. Other management fest like "ELT Conference" "Tech-fest" happens every year. Amity never compromises on expenditure on such events. Most of the times, international conferences may cost more than 5 lakhs. This year "International Conference On Plasma" costs around 7.5 lakhs jus for 3 days. Now, anyone can assume how good they were.

Fee structure is very high. There is a about Amity that only rich-kids can study here a nd somewhat it is true. Its fees is two times the fess other colleges. 1st year fees is 1,83000 (91,500 each semester). And there is a 5% increment in the fees every year. 2nd year-96,500 per sem, 3rd year- 1,0,700 per sem, 4th year- 1,0,1500 per sem.

There is good scholarship here based on 10+2 marks. 83% in PCME has 25% fee wavier. 88% enjoys 50% & 93% receives 100% scholarship. Amity has no hidden policies like other colleges regarding scholarship.If someone receives 100% scholarship, the he/she do not have to pay a single coin. For continuation of scholarship of 25%, 50%, & 100%, student to has to be appear in top 20%, top 10% & top 5% respectively of the total strength of class. Morethan 200 students are currently enrolled in 100% scholarship in different departments. Students easily can get loan. Amtiy has a big name. they have Tie-up with Oriental Bank And Axis Bank.

Hostels are like caves. Very congesting. Around of 5-6 metre of length & breadth. 2 students share one room. 3 rooms has to share 1 bathroom, which is a big compromise with hygiene. Hostel cost around 55k for 10 moths including laundry. bulk of PGs are available just outside of the campus at reasonable price. PGs are somehow seems better because of no restriction regarding anything like smoking and nightouts. Mess food is really great here. it costs 3 thousand per month. Where usually, a full plate consisting Daal, Chaawal, sabji, roti, salad, offers in the noon and same at night. Every Friday, rajma cooked here. In morning, Tea and parathas usually preferred.Quality of food is above average. Regular inspection on the quality of food and students opinion are taken under consideration.

Seniors are good and bad of both varieties. But it depends on a student with whom type of seniors he interact with. Mostly are helpful. Super seniors often found involve in fights and affairs. Many times police has to interfere because of the fights between rich kids.

Exam structure is quite simple. Each paper have 3 sections. Most of the papers ore of 100 marks. Section 1 contains 6 questions, out which any 5 has to done. Each question carries 6 marks. Section 2, contains 3 questions, out of which 2 has to be done. Each of 10 marks. Last section is compulsory, contains 2 questions, (may be 1 sometimes), This section is of 20. Exam papers are not too tough. Any student, who sincerely has attended almost all the classes can surely crack good scores. Copies also checked very sincerely. But almost everyone receives low scores in extra subjects.

Faculty is of medium level. Some are extremely good and experienced, some are really bad. But most of the faculty is good and co-operative. Unlike other colleges, Amity pays good salaries to their faculties, so may be this is the reason behind having good faculty.
