Good college

Great college overall. Can accomodate more eateries.

The Panjab University curriculum is mostly theory based. The on-campus placements were limited and there were no industrial visits. Having said that, the syllabus is in line with UGC NET and therefore is quite relevant in all aspects. It definitely helped those becoming profeesors.

Placement cell of the college is not upto the mark for MA Economics particularly. During my masters, only a couple of companies came to the campus and there were no special steps taken by the institution to prepare the students for the same. We were informed a day or two in advance about the company interviews and were asked to give names.

Multiple events. The department of economics held Econophoria and it had multiple events like paper presentation, quiz, etc. Students get enough exposure because only MA classes would handle the event. Otherwise the college celebrated many other events like MUNs, fests, etc

GGDSD College's fee is on the higher side as compared to its counterparts. I think my fee was around 15000 per year and the mode of payment was through affiliated bank inside the college campus. Additional charges included fine for low attendance. The breakdown was proper

Campus Life was great. Gender ratio seemed fair, but for my course in particular -- there are way more girls than boys. Competitions and MUNs took place on a regular basis. There were various fests also. Cultural societies were generally active. Annual elections were held for college parties

Seniors were generally helpful. I haven't been involved in any alumni network myself but any occurance of meeting someone from college is generally pleasant

Interest in Economics. Admission process was simple but required a lot of photocopies and verifications. Everything was in person (and not online). The final merit list was also displayed in college itself, therefore physical presence is required for multiple days.

The faculty was a mix of experienced and young lecturers. Most senior faculty were PhD holders, while some young ones were pursuing their research on the side. Overall the faculty was extremely competent and taught with passion and humility. Some profeesors had exceptional research experience and encouraged students to participate in research paper writing
