Entrance Preview

I took B.Sc Psychology in distance education because I am very interested in the subject. Initially, when I was looking for a good college to enroll in, I found that Annamalai is the only one which takes admission throughout the year and so I joined here.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

They have a decent curriculum wherein the course encompasses all the necessary papers, namely, General Psychology, Child Psychology, Biological Psychology, Health and Nutrition, Sociology, Social Psychology, Abnormal psychology and Cognitive Psychology.

Internships Opportunities

Since mine was a distance learning course, I do not have first hard knowledge about internships and placements. But I have been told that they offer excellent internships for regular courses.

Placement Experience

4

The university tries to bring in a lot of IT companies like WIPRO, CTS, TCS, Infosys, HCL etc and works to bring core companies like Sterlite, Consolidated Construction Consortium Limited (CCCL), etc

College Events

4

Since I enrolled into a distance education course, I cannot provide any insight into the events celebrated as I rarely attended the classes held in the college. But I assume that they conduct yearly fests and symposiums, both technical and cultural. I have heard from my friends in the regular courses about it.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for my course was very nominal. It was a 3 year course and the fees was around Rs. 2500-3000 per annum. Since I was doing a regular course alongside this one, they gave me a 50% reduction in my fees upon producing a bonafide certificate.

Fees and Financial Aid

As far as I am aware, if a person is doing another course in regular mode alongside the distance education, upto 50% discount is provided in the tuition fee upon producing the bonafide certificate from your regular college.

Campus Life

2.5

Based on the 10 days that I was there, I can safely say that the faculty and management are very tolerant towards various genders, age, job profile, ethnicity, races, religion, political and economic statuses. They did not discriminate between students in anyway.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

When I was called for my compulsory classes for 10 days, I stayed in the university guest house. It was a huge place with lots of space and rooms were neat and well kept. They charged a very nominal Rs.800 per night for AC rooms. Food was not provided and

Alumni/Alumna

We were not introduced to any alumni or senior students of the college although we did interact with the ones in the same batch slot as us and they were from different backgrounds and cultures.

Exam Structure

In the distance education course, we have great flexibility in choosing the examination dates which can be written either in May or in December, During the compulsory contact program, we had the practical classes for 10 days followed by the practical exam

Faculty

4.5

The faculty are highly qualified and have immense knowledge about the particular subject. They are eager to teach and are very approachable and take great interest in clarifying doubts. Most of them hold a doctorate and maintain good standards of teaching

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well structured and relevant to current academic and real world needs,it hepls built astrong foundation knowledge especially in my field geography, the syllabus also supports preparation for competitive exams and higher education. Exams are conducted regularly and difficulties level is moderate, which helps in consistent preparation, however adding more practical assessments instead of only theoretical exams would be beneficial Overall the curriculum is good but it can be improved by including updated topics more hands on learning, and modern teaching methods

Course Curriculum Overview:

The courses are well structured and interesting espcially the social psychology and basic psychology papers. in a semester there are 2 internal exams and they will be at least a month apart from each other. as long as you study your course materials, the exams are pretty easy however otherwise it might be a tough one. the courses are well structured espcially the social and basic psychology. and in some semesters, there will be a reading period where students are encourged to go and read in the Library.. The Curriculum served as a base for Internships and basic understanding but it is required to do masters to get a job in psychology filed
