Remarks
Suming up everything the overall experience in NIET was good. crowd was good. Made a lot of friends and some good connections with teachers.
Entrance Preview
Got in through councelling of upsee state exam (rank: 20031), though many seats are filled through management as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
Each semester contains 3 sessional exams and 1 PUT (pre-university test). for which mandatory attendance as per college rule book is 75%. but 55-60% will also do the job. they are very disciplined towards completion of syllabus on time and try to provide 15-20 days preparation window before final semester exams.
Internships Opportunities
No internship is provided but various training programmes(auto desk auto cad, primevera, staad pro, robotics etc) are there which require separate fee.
Placement Experience
Placements for CS, IT, ECE, EEE was very good. from all 4 branches more than 90% students were placed but I was from civil branch and to be honest you cant expect very much from college placements in mechanical/civil branch. minimum package was 1.5 lakhs per annum and max went upto 8 lakhs per annum.
College Events
Fresher's party was there to welcome the freshers arranged by 2nd yr students. Mostly the event took place in college ground itself with activities like singing, dancing, cultural events, competition for mr. fresher and ms. fresher. fashion show etc. Then there was college tech fest and sports fest. which went on for 3 days consisting of activities like. lan gaming. cricket, football, basketball volleyball, sprinting, robo rally, robo warrior, bridge making, treasure hunts etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I took admission in year 2012 when fee was 104000 for first year. and then 89400 for rest 3 years. compared to other engineering colleges of uptu it was quite feasible, neither too expensive. Nor too low. and there was no dress code for btech students like many other colleges.
Fees and Financial Aid
No personal scholarship was rewarded from college. However university always gave scholarship for poor students.
Campus Life
Gender ratio was quite good almost 1.5 boys: 1 girl. Campus life was not upto the mark as there only canteen and ground to hangout. Although there was always an option of going out of the college premises unlike some other colleges in that area who used to close the gates in morning after some time and opened them during lunch.
Hostel Facilities
I was a day scholar and did up down from my home for 3 years. And lived in a rented flat for 1 year. But as far as i heard from friends. Hostel was not something to boast for. mess was messy. And food was trash. I always heard students complaining about bad quality of food and no electricity supply in hostel building during college hours so as to ensure that students are attending classes.
Alumni/Alumna
There is a separate campus for 1st year(B.tech) students known as 'New NIET' and other campus for seniors. According to college staff this was done to prevent ragging activities. But due to this there was very little scope of interaction with seniors. 1st year students never got a chance to interact with 2nd 3rd 4th year students. And similarly seniors had no idea of who their juniors were.
Exam Structure
Overall routine for the day was not hectic at all. The lectures and labs were arranged in such a way that stress from lectures was completely released during labs and breaks. though there were many assignments like any other engineering college. classes start at 9:45 am and went upto 12:45 pm. Then came lunch break for an hour and after lunch it went on till 4:50 pm. labs were arranged anywhere in between for 2 hours.
Faculty
Being a private college you cant expect much from faculty, but from what i heard about other college's faculties NIET provides a level up. departments like CS,IT have decent faculties whereas mechanical and civil have some great core subjects' faculties.
