Remarks
The ROI of the college is very high along with more than 50 years of alumni base. It is a Government Institution and comes under Punjab University. It is closer to my hometown and conditions are safer in Chandigarh during the current pandemic. Also the fact, that classes are online in all the colleges at the moment and there is hardly any peer-to-peer learning, an important part of MBA, I didn't see a great advantage in joining any other b-school in tier 2.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is old and needs updating but since, UBS is a government college, there's no provision for that anytime soon. The teachers are good, very knowledgeable with years of experience. Although, half of the syllabus for most subjects is taught by JRFs, they are very supportive of students. Every week, we have guest webinars, club meetings, events, class discussions and competitions. All of the things keep students on toes. And exams are very frequent as well.
Placement Experience
A lot of companies like Airtel, Deloitte etc comes to campus. A lot of alumni are currently working at top positions in big companies (CXO, CHRO level) and they often come to meet and hold sessions with the students. The placements are good, however, a student needs to be very vigilant and complete certifications and courses and take part in various competitions to stand out and gain best offers. The seniors and cell members keep posting good opportunities in the class groups and urge all students and guide them to update their skills all the time. A lot of entrepreneurs are currently in our batch, but taking time to complete MBA due to current scenario.
College Events
Events are very common in UBS as inter-college, intra-college events are going on. Most of the Corporate competitions are for tier one colleges and UBS is not able to participate, but students can find a few to get exposure. Various activities like cyclothon, marathons, treasurehunt, sportsmeets, webinars, seminars, tedx talks, josh talks, HR conclave etc are held in the campus by the UBS Students. A lot of clubs like Investment club, Consulting Club, Environment Club, Analytics Club etc are there which holds events, workshops and competitions.
Campus Life
The campus is huge and University library is close to UBS campus. StuC PU is the most famous eating point in Chandigarh with a lot of variety. However, we haven't gotten a chance to go to the department yet, because of the ongoing pandemic.
