Remarks
I had the opportunity to visit the campus a number of times before the admission process started. To be very honest, I was very happy seeing the campus. It had all amenities like library, sufficient opportunities to get into sports with a huge ground. The college also offers NCC and NSS in addition to various cells and Rotaract Club. Taking into consideration these factors along with a positive review about the college from relatives and friends I decided to join MCM DAV College for my Undergraduation Program.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum followed is as per the syllabus laud down by PU. The syllabi is vast and covers a number of different subjects. The faculty is excellent and has up to date information about the curriculum mention in the syllabus. I would specially like to mention Ms. Raman Ghuman Ma'am, the HOD of the commerce department. The faculty is always there to help out and understand the students (if needed). Raman Ma'am is very kind at heart and the best among all who've taught me. She is excellent and provides endless knowledge to students.
Internships Opportunities
Internships joined: 1. Aashman Foundation (Graphic Designer - unpaid) To get into the internship I had applied on internshala and had to undergo an interview and send some of my works for review. 2. Tutoraj (sales team - Rs250 on minimum 2 sales) To get into the internship I had applied on internshala and had to answer a few questions which were basis for me being selected.
Placement Experience
I haven't been a part of any placement drive as of now. But I am aware about a drive held by Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein from Elante Mall, Chandigarh. Majorly students of the third year were selected. It is based on the group discussion performance followed by personal interview. The job offered was that of a sales person (standing job).
College Events
The college hosts an annual fest named MERAKI usually in the month of February. It has been held regularly except for a year in between because of certain issues which weren't disclosed as such. The fest invites both men and well as women of all age groups as visitors. The day event is followed by a celebrity night wherein singers like Prabh Gill are invited as performers. The criteria for entry to the fest is college id for the college students and passes are sold for outsiders.
