Remarks

This is the first medical institute of asia Estd. 1835 our college is the proud of our country. Till this day this college is considered as the most prestigious med school in west bengal.

Entrance Preview

WBJEE, I don't really remember the percentage as it was years ago. You don't need a reason to opt for the medical college kolkata, the prestigious institute making doctors for 150+ years.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is one of the toughest on this planet there is no doubt anout it 1st year: anatomy , physiology, biochemistry 2 semesters 2nd year plus 3rd year : pharmacology, pathology, microbiology, forensic med 3 semesters 4th year: ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, Community med 2 sem final year: medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynae and obstetrics.. 2 sem the course is very balanced with semesters at regular intervals and one should enjoy it..but it requires hard work.

Internships Opportunities

Yes i am currently doing the internship.. It is a great way to learn every single practical things of medicine. Their is a hug pressure of patient and that's our advantage we get to see different kind of diseases to learn regularly we get a handsom amount of Rs. 18375 per month.

Placement Experience

4.5

You need to crack the next pg exam to get chance to post grad course if you don't crack at the running year their is scope of staying as a house staff doctor in our college. Apart from that one can practice at private sector house staffs are offered nearly 25k a month as far as i know.

College Events

5

Their is several freshers welcome programs, and one annual fest named rhapsody the fest continues for 5 days their is a general common room to gossip, play carrom, table tennis, and all we do have a library with adequate space apart from the fest there are treasure hunts, photography competition, quiz competition and many more recreational events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are absolutely magic just 750 rupees per month and you unlock every single door of our college there is no need to pay in each semester. One need to clear fees before the MBBS exams only the payment is not online it happens in cash only for any delay the late fees is 25 only.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am receiving NCERT scholarships before i entered here other people availed different govt. and private scholarships according their eligibility but u cannot get more than one scholarship.

Campus Life

4

Campus life: good, rather awesome gender ratio: approx 60:40 (m:f) their are serious political influence in our college that most of us doesn't like 4 political parties fight there but we all have good personal relation eighth opponent parties. Religion: hindu:muslim = 8:2, few christian fellows most of the students are from middle class to high middle class family religious tension is absolutely ZERO.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors do take care of junior students from the day of counselling to completion they were helpful in my studies as i help my juniors the tradition and senior junior reaction is incredible strictly NO RAGGING in present our college.

Exam Structure

Sometimes specially during the first year, and during final year and above all, internship may be very hectic. But i got time to take rest in between hardworking days and one can get adequate scope to study during internship if he/she wants exams are a bit of pressurizing specially final year subjects and a student really need dedication to pass the final MBBS.

Admission

Unlike other colleges, there was no option for online registrations at first counselling took place we showed our rank cards and opted our colleges there, then paid 1k rupees to the cashier..their were cashiers from every college maintaining the transaction with would-be students of concerned colleges we got a receipt and a declaration that we are eligible for the following college We were offered three different dates for admission. Had to submit all my previous secondary and higher secondary marksheets which i shall get back after my internship is complete. I had to sign a bond declaring i with pay amount of 2lakh(probably) if i resign for any reason and then our names were registered( handwritten) in a huge khata requirements: 1, 3 stamp photographs signed by me A RBI challan of 10k probably this isnt necessary now a days my certificates of higher secondary (original) Rank card, receipts from counselling.

Faculty

4

This is a tough question there are different teachers with their own way of teaching there is no doubt about their ability and knowledge, but it depends on the student to absorb the knowledge and assimilate it. I found almost every teachers very helpful and friendly and enthusiastic to teach us even beyond the official curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
