Remarks

The college over all is good. There are really good eateries and other facilities in and around the college.

Entrance Preview

I took no examinations. I studied here from my pre-university and it is one of the oldest and the best women college in Bangalore.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

It is an autonomous university. The syllabus and the corrections are done in house. The teaching staff are good, a balanced co-curriculum. The course structure is done well to benefit all students. We did not have much choice of electives. Our course was pre defined and structured, but we covered everything in our curriculum. We had to do projects, internships and much more.

Internships Opportunities

We had Goldman Sacs, Google, Yahoo, E&Y, A lot of startup companies. Infosys, Wipro, CGI, IBM, Cabgemini.

Placement Experience

3

We would have to join the placement cell for 1500. Attend placement training for two months. Then we would be notified of companies which come for aptitude round. if we get through aptitude round we would have interview. Then selection will be announced personally.

College Events

4

We had two major cultural fests per year. Then department fests, class fests, course fests, all major festivities celebration ( freshers day, teachers day, students day, college day, independence day) we had foreign exchange programs and inter collegiate programs, rallies, sports fests, clubs activities (Rotary, NCC, drama etc).

Fee Structure And Facilities

The structure was made feasible and affordable for all students. There were different slabs for different courses and students. Foreign students paid a different slab. There was EMI facility and much more. There was student bank facility offered by Vijaya Bank.

Fees and Financial Aid

Ignou was a course offered by JNC. I have not availed any scholarship. The college did offer scholarships for some students.

Campus Life

3

It is all women college run by the christian missionary. There was not strict dress code as such jeans and casual wear was allowed for all students. No such thing as economic status or politics all were treated equally. No ragging occurred in any form in any department.

Hostel Facilities

2

I am not a hostile person. I was a day scholar. The breakfast was bad. Lunch and dinner was workable good. Students had a good comfortable living in the hostel. There were some strict rules as well. No outside food allowed, no going out of campus without permission etc.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has an alumni day every year on Oct 2nd. The seniors we helpful with books, course material and project pass on. We are still in touch through social media with our teachers and other friends.

Exam Structure

We had a good exam structure. We had 2 sets of exams per semester. Internal and external. Internals we has to write a mid semester paper, do a practical, viva and one project per subject for 40 marks. External was written at end of semester for 100 marks which was rounded off to 60%.

Admission

I had a score of 84% after my 10th I required no cut off for ARTS I got a spot on admission. Since I did ICSE and our results come out later than state board getting 80-90% marks for short list is necessary. The college has sports quota, christian community quota, sc/st quota, disable students quota. If your a brilliant student one round of panel interview and you receive spot on admission. If not you have to wait for getting shortlisted.

Faculty

4

The college has a good strong faculty. The correction system for examination is good. We had good project guides for our project papers and assignments. Our departments had a lot of lecturers who were very helpful in every way possible. Notes were provides, study guides and materials, good library facility.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
