Entrance Preview
I took JEE advanced examination and secured AIR 1291 among all the IIT's IITM has the best lab facilities for mechanical engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is well designed from second year onward we were associated with projects related each course.there is flexibility to add or drop courses which we can choose electives based on our interest we can meet professor's and seniors and ask them guidance regarding electives.
Internships Opportunities
College provides internship in 3rd year where companies come to take interns based on there need. most of the companies including core and non core companies get registered to take interns from our college. stipend varies with company. it can be from 70,000 per month to unpaid interns. on an average stipend is around 15,000-20,000 per month.
Placement Experience
Placements take place around December in final year. overall around 400 companies get registered for placements which includes various foreign companies also package varies depending on the company.generally on an average it is around 10-20 lacs per annum. most of the students get placed.
College Events
Each year tech fest (shaastra) and cultural fest (saarang) take place in our campus. in addition to that each department has it's own fest. shaastra is ISO certified. footfall for shaastra and saarang is around 50,000-60,000 department fest has footfall around 10,000.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is changing year by year for our batch it is around 2 lacs per year including hostel fee for general category students there are scholarships and loan available based on our income it is a little expensive but the facilities present inside campus demand it.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships are available in campus for general category and OBC students it is based on income loan facility is also available, there are 2 banks present in campus and they provide loan facilities with interest around 10-11%.
Campus Life
You can feel the difference between college and outside environment clearly campus is so peaceful gender ratio is 1:10 overall and varies with department for mechanical eng it is almost zero students of various places even some foreign exchange students are present IIT offers various programs like B.Tech, M.Tech Ph.D so all sorts of people are present various clubs are present inside campus like drawing club, toastmasters, analytics club, robotics club so on.
Hostel Facilities
First year it is shared accommodation and from second year single rooms are available with unlimited internet connection mess food is not that good but bearable both hostel and mess account to around 100 rupees per day which is very less compared to average rent outside.
Alumni/Alumna
There is an alumni affairs secretary who deals with them specifically they are very cooperative in bringing companies for placements, interns and provide lot of funds for development of campus seniors are very helpful in making decisions for our future they present us available options very clearly.
Exam Structure
Each semester has 4 exam i.e one exam per month. quiz1 ,quiz2 ,mid-sem, end sem. it is professor's choice to conduct exam he can choose between quizes and mid sem but end semester is compulsory. if you well in the first exam of a course you don't feel any pressure going forward. there are around 4 to 6 courses a semester and we get ample time for exam preparation.
Admission
After the ranks were released counselling notification came through in the official site given later the college in which i got the seat was reveled and we were called for certificate verification. admission date was announced during verification and the additional certificates like medical certificate and scholarship application was informed to submit during admission.
Faculty
Most of the faculty are well experienced and have done practical work regarding what they teach they are continuously in touch with the companies who approach them for project work, so if we do any project under a professor we can deal with real life industry problems and solutions.
