Remarks
I chose to attend this college for multiple reasons. I have numerous acquaintances who are alumni of EIILM with flourishing professional careers, and most of their 1st jobs are from EIILM's placement drive. As an aspiring MBA, I think everyone looks for how good the placement opportunities are in a particular institute before seeking admission. I, being no exception, looking for the same. I heard from the same sources that the teaching faculty is just like family to the students attending their calls and helping them whenever and whichever way possible. For me, this is an important aspect. I couldn't afford to take up the course outside Kolkata, and weighing everything, this was the best option for me. First, there is a screening of MAT scores or VU MAT scores (EIILM's internal entrance exam). On acquiring the cut-off, applicants have to appear for GD & PI sessions. These assess the students before admission.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I want to work in the corporate, especially in the management and administrative domain. I thought EIILM would be an appropriate choice for that because of its excellent faculty members who help the students in every step of their way. Currently, I'm in my 3rd semester and I can say that our professors go above and beyond to help us. This is even more applicable during this pandemic where we are attending uninterrupted and continuous digital classes and it feels like none of us is socially distanced. That's because the professors ensure that the classes are interactive even in a virtual classroom. Our Director Sir is a pioneer of leadership & management always seeking to help us interact with the best industry experts and make us understand how the real world works. Most of our professors either hold Doctorate degrees or have years of industry experience. They ensure to integrate theories with realities at all times while teaching & that is very helpful.
Internships Opportunities
My college provides both summer and winter internships to students at reputed companies. I got my Summer Internship at CMRI which is a part of the CK Birla Group of Hospitals. Since I am doing my specialization in HR, I was an intern in the HR department of CMRI. I got to learn about recruitment and on-boarding processes. I assisted the Senior HR Manager in exit formalities of the company, and also learnt about creating an employee database, making employee files, and conducting training programs.
Placement Experience
Usually, by the end of the 3rd-semester students become eligible for campus placements and companies also start coming in for placement drive. Eminent companies like Bandhan Bank, HDFC, OYO, Federal Bank, Ferro Rocher, Nilkamal, Bajaj Finserv, MRF, Nestle, IFB, Reliance Jio, Kotak Mahindra, ICICI, Amul, Reliance Trends, Reliance Jio, Just Dial, and many more come for campus placement at EIILM. In the last few years, students have been offered 10 LPA at BYJU's and 8 LPA at OYO for positions like Assistant Manager in the Marketing, HR, and Finance departments. From what I have heard from my seniors, more than 95% of students from every batch get a job from campus placement drive even before the completion of the course. We've been given opportunities to interact with industry experts via an Industry-Academic Interface Program 'Swadhya Samkalpa' and thus I'm pretty confident about getting a job with the help of my college after completing the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
One of the reasons for me to choose EIILM was its affordability, especially when I weighed it against the placement opportunities I'll be getting and the kind of faculty members it has. I'm from the 2019-21 MBA batch and my course fee is INR 4,95,000 including INR 5,000 security deposit. I am not aware of their fees hike policy but this is an affordable professional course fee in the Eastern region of India in terms of placement, curriculum, and industry exposure. EIILM also offers merit and a need-based scholarship to eligible and deserving candidates for MBA course. The institute even offers a 100% scholarship for higher education to those who face financial difficulties. It's an integral part of EIILM. After completing my Summer Internship at CMRI, Kolkata that was provided to me via college, I also got a special internship at my college where I am working with my professors and HODs. I am also getting a stipend of INR 7,500 for this internship and is a great learning opportunity for me.
Campus Life
Our batch of 2019-21 got a grand Fresher's welcome at Rajkutir, Swabhumi. We had cultural programs, competitions, ramp show, and the DJ night made it more special. It was a magnificent experience filled with fun & frolic. The program took place probably in September of 2019. EIILM has an elaborate and expansive library containing a myriad of collection of encyclopedias, handbooks, yearbooks, atlases, & directories. We've subscription to print and online periodicals along with thousands of company profiles that we, students, can access anytime. The library also has in its collection journal reports, summer and winter project reports, annual reports, and e-resources on various business management subjects. And since the pandemic, the college has also been trying to develop an e-Library so that students can study and access materials even at home. Students are encouraged to form hobby groups and we have a separate class in 1st semester to explore our hobbies with the guidance of teachers.
Interview Experience
The topic for my GD was 'Effects of Social Media in our life'. There were 7 participants in that group discussion. I also had to appear for Personal Interview. My interviewer was the Head of the IT Department. He asked me questions on a number of topics like why did I chose the MBA course, what are my aims in life, about my family and educational background. I was also asked subject-based questions from economics because I have studied the paper earlier. I found the process for admission at EIILM quite hassle-free. When I visited the college for the first time, the person who looked after my admission was very helpful and friendly. She showed me the campus and attended to all my queries. The criterion for admission is a minimum of 50% score in the MBA entrance exam. Other evaluations are on the basis of GD and PI. I prepped for the GD/PI rounds with the help of numerous YouTube tutorial videos. Also, a Google search on 'common GD topics for college admission' helped me get a known topic.
