Ravenshaw University is one of the oldest universities in Odisha which was established in January 1866 by T.E Ravenshaw. It is also known as THE RED EMPIRE as all the buildings (including department, office, hostel) are red in color. It's famous for its beautiful campus, well-maintained garden, clean classroom, ragging free atmosphere quality education.One of the best things about this university is it is located near the railway station and bus stand. According to me -poor maintenance of some places,waterlogging, hostel disturbance, lack of coordination between student and management are a few issues of this university. The admission process is based on merit and done as follows 1. Submission of application form 2. List of meritious students out 3. Verification of documents 4. Date of admission 5. Date of spot admission of remnant seats Admission overs in July and classes start in August (not this year). I choose Ravenshaw for its quality education Website -ravenshaw university.ac.in

I choose Bsc. botany honors because of interest in science and in plants, the strength of my class is 37 and the total strength of our department is around 150-170(including MSc). A total number of 10 permanent teachers along with 3-4 guest faculty teaches us so the ratio of faculty to students is about 15:1 which is good. All faculties are well qualified and they teach us really well with demonstration and practical methods. Nowadays we are doing well with our online classes. We get every possible help in the field of studies from our faculty that's why I love this university. Total 6 semesters took place in 3 years UG course (2 semesters per year), exams are done on time with completed portions. It's not very hard to pass the exams as the notes and knowledge provided are so well, still, 15% questions are there which are only answerable to those who have really good IQ and presence of mind.

Placement is good here. A good percentage of students from our course got placed. The starting salary package offered in our course ranges between 1.5-3 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Capgemini, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant visit our college for placements. Almost all students from our course got placed except those who want to opt for higher studies. I will do M.sc and further research

Fees are different for different courses for example only for B.sc or B.a fees are In between 15000-2000 per year(including hostel) course like B.ed, MBA and other self-financing courses have a little bit higher fees. Readmission fees get collected every year. Per semester we pay fees ranging from 250-650 depending upon the course.

There are a lot of cultural activities that took place in this university which fuels the confidence of students to ignite the spirit of talent for example 1. Ravenshaw RANGREEZ fest (MARCH) 2. Spring Fest audition(December) 3. Culture fest(November) 4. Radio chocolate all-rounder(September) 5. Annual food Fest(November) We have a huge library named THE KANIKA LIBRARY which is provided with more than 10000 books other than that each department and hostel have their own study room and library so the availability of books is good. Every year's annual sports meet gets conduct in the month of October consisting of a variety of competitions and a special food court competition, along with that science exhibition, debate, drawing, singing, etc competitions are conducted throughout the year.

Rooms are large with separate study table, charging point,2 fans 4 lights, sometimes maintenance problem occurs but facilities are average. In- hostel library, study room, gym, canteen are present. Meal quality is good but sometimes dinner is Very poor in quality so most of the students off their dinner. we get 5 days nonveg (3-day chicken 2-day fish) in a week. On Sundays, we get CHICKEN BIRYANI and also a SPECIAL MEAL every 2-3 months. The registration process is so simple. Students who have applied and selected for the hostel get a hostel form and by filling the form and paying fees they got their hostel id card and special roll number.
