Remarks

Manipal Institute of Technology is the second-best private college in India after BITS Pilani. MIT is an Institution of Eminence which was a big reason to join. The exposure provided here in terms of the activities, fests, clubs and student projects are best when compared to other colleges. There is a good and informal bond between juniors and seniors here with no instances of ragging or bullying. There is a student buddy program here in which each first-year student is allotted a senior as a mentor who will clear all doubts of the junior. The admission process takes into account the MET Score and the counselling process is smooth and impartial. There is the NRI Quota for students from abroad. MIT's placement cell is very competent and big companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Goldman Sachs are the top recruiters. Overall, Manipal Institute of Technology is a great choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Computer Science is the top paying course in today's world. The number of jobs being created in the IT Industry is way more than the jobs in the core market. Everything happens on computers today so this course is very useful and the number of opportunities is very high. The faculty: student ratio is around 1:10 which is very good as each faculty is able to allocate a sufficient amount of time for each student. Around 70-75% faculties are PHDs in their respective fields which is very beneficial for the students as the knowledge that the teachers provide is immense. The teaching method is through PPTs and Handwritten Notes along with classroom lectures which I believe is a great approach to teaching. There are exams every one and a half months and in between them, there are class assignments. At the end of the semester, final exams are held. For each exam, we need to study as the level is high enough to make sure no one can pass without studying.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The internship opportunities for the 2nd and 3rd-year students are very large in number. Each year there is an increase of around 100 more offers compared to the previous year. In the last cycle, 791 internship opportunities were given to students of all branches which is a great increase from the 608 offers in the previous cycle. Around 300+ students converted their internship offers to Pre Placement Offers which shows the calibre of students and the high number of offers. There is a very efficient recruitment process for internships. First, there is a written test which is followed by interviews. Selected students get offers. The projects that the students do in college along with their skills play a huge part in getting offers. Overall, getting internships is not easy but there are plenty offers.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements in Manipal are great for all the branches. The success rate is around 86% for the top branches and the offers are high. The highest packages are in the range 15-20 lakhs per annum and some offers tend to go till 40 lakhs. The top recruiters are Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Accenture. The lowest packages are about 3-5 lakhs per annum and the average packages are 6-8 lakhs per annum. The job and internship offers are increasing each year. In the last cycle, 1089 offers were given to the students and the highest package was 43.31 lakhs per annum to a computer-related branch student. Around 300+ students converted their internship offers to job offers. The placement cell of MIT is very competent and the best companies visit each year. I am planning to work in a company for around a year and then go for my masters.

Fees and Financial Aid

As MIT is a private college, the fees are high compared to the government colleges. For 4 years, the total fee structure is around 20 lakhs which includes the tuition, hostel and mess fees. The scholarship is provided to students who get a rank under 1000 in the entrance test.

Campus Life

5

The campus life at MIT is arguably the best in India. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing and there is a vibe of happiness in the college. There are two fests conducted annually, one in each semester. In the odd semester, the technical fest, Tech Tatva is organized which is a great platform for students to exhibit their technical projects like robots, remote-controlled cars, etc and win the competitions. It is open for colleges all over India. The cultural fest, Revels is organized in the even semester and celebrities from all fields are invited as guests. Vir Das, Rahul Dua, Nishant Suri, Benny Dayal were some of the guests in the previous editions. The important thing is that all of these fests are organized solely by the students. Apart from that, the classrooms are all modern with working projectors and air-conditioned along with proper ventilation. MIT is full of brilliant student-led clubs in all technical and cultural field which offer a great deal of exposure to students.

Hostel Facilities

5

There are various types of hostels in MIT and students get to choose the room they want. The most expensive rooms are the single occupancy air-conditioned followed by double occupancy air-conditioned. After that, there is the single occupancy Non-AC followed by double occupancy Non-AC. All these rooms have washrooms attached. The cheapest hostels have common washrooms. In the room, you get a bed, an almirah, a study table and a mattress from the college. All the amenities provided are well maintained and are repaired efficiently in case of damage. The meal quality in the mess is very high and proper precautions are taken by all members of the mess while cooking. Cleaning is done twice daily and the meals are highly nutritive. The registration for hostels and mess is done online on a portal and the process is smooth. There is a hostel for every budget at MIT.
