Remarks
I chose this college because it is one of the top colleges in Tamil Nadu. The entrance is based on JEE main marks and I got the course that I wanted. Coaching is good and is a disciplined college. A good cultured college. Placements are good and top companies recruit from Sastra. The tuition fee and hostel fee is reduced (RS 45000) compared to others.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it has good scope for job opportunities in software as well as the electronic field. Also, I was a CS major in high school. Faculties are sufficient for students. Faculties are well knowledged and clear the doubts of students at any time. Classes are not that much interesting and some detailed explanation clears the concepts thoroughly.CIA was conducted monthly and was of medium difficulty. Exams were challenging especially arrear exams.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are provided for students with a CGPA of 7.5 or above at the last semester. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Amazon, Freshdesk offer internships with stipends around RS 10000. Two mini projects are completed during the 6th and 7th semester. Students who get a CGPA of above 7.5 can opt for SAP and go abroad for their main projects in the 8th semester.
Placement Experience
Campus placements start from the 7th semester onwards. Many companies visit the college for on-campus recruitment. TCS, Mu Sigma, Infosys, Wipro Cognizant are the top recruiters.TCS recruits about 2000 candidates each year. Each company gives an attractive package. The highest package offered is by Amazon of 12 LPA and TCS offers about 4-6 LPA. 60-70% of the students get placed in top companies. My plan is to get a decent job in the software sector after completing the course.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are reduced compared to other universities. Many scholarships are available in SASTRA. Dean's scholarship is awarded for merit students. Financial assistance is provided for poor students. On-campus placements give an attractive salary package even though I didn't get a job. Internships and SAP with enough stipend are provided.
Campus Life
The cultural fest consisted of three main events: Daksh, Kuruksastra. There were adequate books in the library. The library was a two-floored building and consisted of books magazines, newspapers, question papers. Each coursebook was divided into each topic and the availability of books can be checked at the computer at the entrance. Classrooms are big enough for accommodating students but were old. Wooden benches were used. Smart classes were also used for topics. Windows were damaged and panes were broken. There is a big ground where sports activities were conducted. The gym was also provided along with a tennis court. Many cultural, educational, sportive groups and clubs were run by students.
