Rutvik Bade's Review On IIT Tirupati - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITTP], Tirupati

JEE Advance was the final hurdle to my entry in IIT Tirupati. Which is backed by screening examination JEE Main. I selected the college because of it's mentoring institute- IIT Madras.

The course is excellent. First year focuses on overall engineering with less exposure to respective disciplines. Students are acquainted with engineering in a simple manner. All the subjects are common for all branches. Division is done in the second year where we get to study the branch we opted for. There is much emphasis on research and plenty of backing from professors.

Internship in IIT usually begins in 3rd or 4th year. Since there are only 2 batches in IIT-TP currently- 1st and the 2nd year, no one has actually been through the internship experience yet.

No one is yet placed in any company because no one had yet passed out. The first bath will pass out in 2019. It would be clear at that time about the companies that are interested in hiring the engineers from IIT Tirupati.

Festivals of almost all kinds are celebrated here. there is overflowing of events. Every semester is packed with extravagant and amazing events. Face- painting, tattoo making, rangoli, speech, singing, treasure hunt, freshers, robotics, marathon and many more have completed in just 2 months.

Fee structure is feasible according to me with 1.35 lakh for every semester inclusive of hostel, mess, transport and tuition. There are many tuition fee waiver schemes for those whose parents income is lesser than 5 lakh per annum. And many scholarship schemes as well for the support. Since it's a new IIT, it's 1.35 lakh.

Loans are offered by the SBI which are quite good. On the day of admission, the SBI officials made us familiar with the schemes. The loans are sanctioned lightning quick.

Campus life is the heart of this college experience. The seniors are awesome with 0% ragging. Gender ratio is the highest among any of the IIT's. Official and non- official parties are all engaging. There is plenty of scope for showcasing talent at various events organised by the college seniors. There is no problem for a student to get settled here. Everyone is treated as a family member.

There are no incidents where the students had to stay away because of low availability of accommodation. The hostel is good with some playground around. I believe that the provision is way too good when compared to the fees of 22 k. Mess food is average.

There are labs once every week for which some prior study is required. Workshops as well are once every week. Workshops are usually tiring and engaging. Labs are long and time taking. I feel some fault in the lab structure because students do perform the experiments but at the end do not have any clue of what they have done. Exams are quite frequent.

After the examination, the dates are announced on the official JEE Advance website. Then the preference forms are released online which we had to fill. Then after a brief period, mock allotment round commences. After which the round 1 starts. Once it is completed, the nearest IIT is to be visited for verification and choice selection like freeze, slide or float.

Faculty is backbone of the institute. Many teachers from IIT Madras come 2-3 days in a week to teach. Most of them have completed PhD and are emeritus teachers from Madras. Ego- less teachers with high intellect and years of experience, all of these elements are present in everyone. Frankly speaking, I personally felt like getting knowledge from God itself when I first sat in the classroom.
