Remarks
Reason for Selecting this college: 1. The placement at this college is really good as compared to other universities within this region. 2. Close to home. 3. The Specializations being offered along with normal courses were quite good like (B.Tech in Computer Science with Specialization in Data Analytics/Cloud Computing). Positives: 1. A lot of companies visit the campus for placements especially for B.Tech and MBA, so you just have to be above average to get placed in a decent company. 2. Faculty is always willing to help regarding academics, research work, projects. Negatives: 1. Classes used to be for 7-8 hours regularly, which according to me was a waste of time. 2. There used to more focus on academics (getting marks), attending classes, rather than on projects. 3. Some faculty members just won't allow you to leave the class even they've nothing to teach. You've to keep sitting in that class until that class's time gets over.
Course Curriculum Overview
Reason for choosing the course: 1. With the growing demand for Data Analytics it seemed like a lot of jobs will be available when we graduate and it'll make us differentiate us from other students who're not doing any specialization. But after 3rd year hardly any company came for a Data Analytics role, all were related to Software Development. Faculty: Student Ratio was around 1:60 Quality of Faculty: Around 30% of faculty members genuinely work hard to make the concepts easier for the students to understand. Rest mostly are here just because they had completed their Masters from GLA or nearby city Agra and wanted to get a job and also since Mathura is a cheap city to live in so they could save some money. We used to study online from youtube and through books. All faculty members had either done MTech/PHD or even more. The teaching method was open ppt and read it. (70%) For BTech we used to have exams conducted 3 times, easy to pass, but to score good you need to have studied decently.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies offer internships before giving the student a full-time offer. So they usually take the students after their 3rd year itself. The stipend offered during this time varies heavily depending on the company. But usually it's between 10-30k per month.
Placement Experience
Usually, after 3rd year students are allowed to sit for campus placements. Many students can go for internships after their 3rd year. They just have to come to campus to give their exams. A decent number of companies visit the campus and if you're even a below-average you'll get placed. Some companies that visited during my time: Microsoft, Medlife(now PharmEasy), Juspay, Kony(now Temenos), Wipro(100+), TCS(100)+, Infosys(100+), Accenture (took 250+ students), and a lot of startups based in Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bangalore. The highest package offered on campus was around 11lpa. The average package would be around 4lpa. Around 80% of students get placed. Students who don't opt for placements usually prepare for GATE/CAT/UPSC. Some even go abroad after giving GRE/TOEFL/IELTS.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee has increased a lot over the years, but when you enrol it will remain constant for all 4 years. If you do not get a scholarship and stay in the hostel then you would spend around 2.5 lakhs easily every year. If you score above 90% in your 12th you'll get some scholarship. Also, if you know someone in the college like any professor or management, you'll get some discount. Yes, if you need Financial Assistance you'll get that, you just need to talk to Vice Chancellor or someone with similar authority. There are a lot of opportunities on campus for jobs after 3rd year, at least for me. The packages offered usually range from around 3lpa - 15lpa.
Campus Life
There are a lot of fests conducted throughout the year ranging from DJNights, eConclave, TedX. Academic Books are also available at the main library. You're allowed to take 3 subject books for a duration of 3 months and rest 3 books for a duration of 1 week. New Classrooms are well equipped with Projectors and boards. Along with that sockets at every desk where you can easily charge your laptops. There're facilities for Football, Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, Table-Tennis, which you can easily avail for your use. Student Clubs include: Ninad(Music), Acting Club, Many coding clubs.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels were the best part of the campus for me. For boys, there are options for Single/Double and Tripple occupancy rooms. For Girls only double and triple. For boys, there's also one hostel with ACs available which obviously cost a little more. Other facilities include a GYM, Washerman for clothes, newspapers are available too. The rooms are quite spacious and well maintained. The food quality and variety are also pretty good considering how people usually hate their mess food. Here at GLA, there's no issue of food. Boys food is available at 3 times Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and tea in the evening. Girls also have evening snacks. Food Menu is decided by the Student committee and quality is decent. there's no limit to how much you can eat. Eat until you're full.
Admission
Just had to clear GLAET. No rank or score was told.
