Remarks
College management is mixed bag in my opinion. While in some cases, it seems to be cooperative but a lot of times there seem to be a major disconnect between the students and the authorities in a lot issues as the approach of the management is very conservative. I think the college management should have regular interaction with the student committees and take their inputs more seriously so that a better environment can be created for the students.
Entrance Preview
UPTU entrance exam, got an All India rank of 13746. This was the best college I was getting in UPTU and was also comparatively closer from my residence.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course structure is as per the university norms which although well balanced needs certain updates from the university itself as many of the concepts being taught are a bit outdated now. More emphasis on the practical rather than the theoretical knowledge should be the top priority.
Internships Opportunities
For the Bachelors in Technology course, there is no internship from the college yet. However there are a few training sessions organised by various organisations for which students have to pay. Trainings are a decent experience thanks to the infrastructure provided by the college.
Placement Experience
Placement process are decent in the college. Students are well informed abut various on campus as well pool campus drives. For CS and IT branches in particular the placement is really good with average annual CTC offered by companies being around 3-3.5 lakhs with companies like TCS, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant etc. However the number of companies invited to the college could be a lot more considering the number of students in the college. Also, for the branches like Mechanical and Civil, the placement record isn't good which is possibly the case with most of the UPTU colleges.
College Events
The main techno cultural fest in the college Genero is an annual 3 day fest which was a good mix of fun activities and technical and cultural competitions but lacked the enthusiasm which most college fests normally has. The guests invited in the fest are also not very youth centric and feels more like a school function rather than a college fest. The administration and representatives needs to do a lot in this department to attract the youth by organising more interesting activities like in the other colleges (which I think seems to have started these years)
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is average as per most of the colleges and since the infrastructure and facilities in the college are good, it seems well worth it. However since I was a day scholar, I am not very sure about the hostel fees and facilities. During my time in the college the annual fees was roughly around INR 90k and reached to around INR 1 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not aware of any special scholarship provided by the college. Loan facility is as per the education loan facilities which are very normal in all colleges so there is nothing special to mention about it.
Campus Life
Campus life overall in the college is just average. The emphasis is too much on academics which is not something bad but there is a certain lack of balance in the academics and co curricular activities. Gender ratio is just like any other engineering college. Mechanical and Civil branches in particular had a vast majority of boys. I dont really remember any party being organised at the college level but one can always celebrate with their friends and classmates. Some teachers are really fun and make your stay in the college easier. Sports competitions were organised but again students found it difficult to find time for them due to academics and pressure of maintaining the attendance. Students mostly belonged to middle class families from smaller towns and some of them did take time to adjust to the environment here. There didn't seem to be any religious or racial intolerance in the college.
Hostel Facilities
I was a day scholar so not very sure about the hostels but as per what I have heard the hostel rooms are not really good. Students tend to not like the hostel food which is the reason they prefer to stay in PGs. Nearby the college, there is Crossings Republic township where there are a lot of flats where students can get easy accommodation. With sharing the overall cost of living is not expensive at all. I am not sure about the exact rental figure though.
Alumni/Alumna
There is an alumni committee in the college along with a portal which keeps the alumni connected however the face to face interaction is not there and being an Alumni I have not received any invitations for any kind of get together or interaction yet but I have learned that college is working on it in the coming future. We do receive the placement opportunities which the senior alumni of the our college find but I am not sure how many of them have converted into something fruitful. The initiative is new and may see improvements in future.
Exam Structure
Internal exams weren't very frequent and maintained a good balance overall. Same was the case with labs which were adequately scheduled making sure that there is no extra burden on the students although more emphasis could be given on making labs more interesting to make sure that students are more deeply indulged in the lab activities.
Admission
I was shortlisted from the UPTU counselling based on my ranking. After that the normal university procedure began where college administration was fairly cooperative. Although the procedure felt a bit painstaking and time consuming, the things on the administrative front have improved in the later few years.
Faculty
Majority of the faculty of the college is suitably qualified and even though the task of completing a lot of syllabus in a very less time is in front of them, they are fairly capable of doing that however there is a kind of lack of focus in various topics but that is mostly because of syllabus being a lot to be taught with deep emphasis for the given time of the semester.
