Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi, is known for its specialization in Quantitative Techniques in Business Management. A course which is structured around statistics and economics provides practical knowledge along with a dual degree with the option of finance, marketing or economics. The college also provides an amazing ROI.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course comprises of statistics, econometrics and economics as the focussed subject. You can also choose an additional course. The majority of faculties are PhDs with decades of experience in academics. The department also has visiting faculties coming from reputed institutes.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is majorly for an analytics-based company with highest stipend being 2 lakh and the average being 40k. Many companies also visit for marketing and finance profile. The internship period is different than other B-schools. It's from June and July according to University of Delhi calendar.
Placement Experience
The campus placement is good, the average package for 2020 batch was around 11 lakh p.a. The placements start early from November and goes on till March usually. The summer internship offered the highest stipend of 2 lakh and also many of the students got a PPO.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course as it comes under Delhi University has an academic fee of 12-13k. There is an additional 32k which need to be paid as a student body finds for a year. The student body fund is only paid by the students who want to sit for placements and other departmental activities.
Campus Life
The campus life is good as the south campus is really beautiful and also has facilities like library, badminton courts, cricket and football field. The campus also comprises of other departments which offers a good exposure and learning experience. Although the hostel available is for the south campus so each department is allotted a certain number of seats. The seats for DBE ranges from 10-15 every year and the first year you get it based on CAT merit and second year based on your first year's marks.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are good considering the cost that we are paying. Being a central university the hostel cost is subsidised but the seats are also limited and are allotted based on the merit. The mess is fine but being a PG hostel it doesn't have restrictions.
Interview Experience
The admission process comprised of a group discussion on topics ranging from economics to current affairs. The GD group consisted of 10-12 people. The group discussion was followed by a personal interview consisting of a panel of 3-4 people. The interview was focused on past job experience and academics.
