Remarks
IIM Raipur is part of the CAP process. The selection process included WAT and PI. For me, it was held on 12-02-2020. My reason for choosing this college was that it is one of the prestigious MBA colleges in India. The batch size, placements and fees were also the factors that I considered while choosing this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
In the first year, students are exposed to all the domains such as Marketing, HR, Operations, Strategy, etc. This helps in building the foundation for all the functional areas of management and provides students with a chance to understand every domain and find their interests. In the second year, the students can choose from a wide range of electives based on their interests. The teaching method is very practical that includes lots of case studies and assignments based on real scenarios. The classroom lectures are insightful and exams won't be hard if students pay attention to all the lectures.
Internships Opportunities
The college offers various short term projects. Various roles are offered including HR, Marketing, Sales, etc. They are usually for 1-2 months but can vary depending on the company's requirements. Companies such as Amul, Accenture, OYO provided short term projects to the students. The experience gained through these projects helps in building and improving the managerial skills of the students.
Placement Experience
150+ companies participated in the placement process last year out of which 50 plus were new recruiters. The sales and marketing roles had the maximum share followed by Analytics and Consulting, Financial Management, Operations & IT and General Management. Some of the companies that participated are Accenture, Aditya Birla, Cognizant, Amazon, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The current fees for the course are Rs. 14,20,200 for 2 years excluding the hostel fees. The hostel fees are around 36k, however, due to COVID conditions, there is ambiguity regarding the hostel fees. The college has arrangements with nationalized banks to provide loans to needy students. Scholarships are also available for SC/ST candidates.
Campus Life
The library has a wide collection of books, subscription to print journals, magazines, newspapers, and other resources such as research papers, etc. The college also provided these resources digitally since we are attending the classes remotely. We have both academic and non-academic clubs such as Anasys, Finatix, Kartavya, Sports Club, etc. All the clubs are really active and keep conducting events. We have an annual fest - Karmaanta.
Hostel Facilities
It is a residential programme. But since we are currently taking classes remotely, we have not been to hostel yet. The college has 5 new hostels that provide the best possible facilities. The students have individual rooms.
Interview Experience
Yes, there My topic for WAT was WAT and PI that was held collectively for all the IIMs under CAP admission process. My topic for WAT was: Will advancement in AI and ML lead to unemployment. The interview questions were a mix of HR questions and academic questions. Some of them are listed below: 1. Tell me about yourself. 2. What do you think about the Union Budget? 3. Questions related to economics: Game theory, economies of scale, etc. 4. Whom do you admire the most from the business world? 5. Why IIM? 6. Strengths and weakness. To prepare for WAT and PI, I read the news regularly and participated in mock interviews. I also went through my under graduation academics.
