Remarks
I chose IIM Raipur over other colleges because of the high quality of education and impeccable teaching methodology. Professors at IIM Raipur are of top-notch quality and they provide us with practical knowledge apart from the theoretical concepts. Another reason for choosing IIM Raipur was its above-average placement track record. When it comes to the admission process, it accepts CAT scores where students need to score above 94 percentile to get the initial shortlist. Selected students are then required to go through a commonly accepted process (CAP) where they take WAT/PI. Once the process is over around mid-march, students are selected on the overall score comprising of CAT percentile and WAT/PI.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum of the course Post Graduation Programme in Management (PGP) is dynamic and sufficient. The course is structured in a way that helps the students in learning about the basic concepts of management and business. It also helps students in augmenting their technical knowledge so that they are able to solve real-life management problems. The college boasts of a great pedagogy. There are around 25 professors in the college for 500 odd students. All the professors are highly qualified with many years of experience in this profession. Teachers solve case studies in class to give insights into the concepts related to their respective subjects.
Internships Opportunities
IIM Raipur successfully concluded the summer internship program for the PGP batch 2019-21 with 100% placement. Students are required to complete a 2-3 month internship after their 1st year. Placement Experience
The class of 269 students in PGP batch 2019-21 saw over 140 recruiters participating in the recruitment process. 46% of its students were placed in the field of sales and marketing while 17% in the financial management area. The final placement of PGP batch 2018-20, on the other hand, witnessed over 150+ recruiters with 50+ new recruiters. The average and the median salary stood at 15.20 Lakh and 14.78 lakh, respectively. The top 25% of the batch took an average salary of Rs. 21.28 LPA. The highest package offered was Rs 46 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for its flagship PGP course are Rs. 14.5 lakhs. The fees are paid in installments every trimester. Students are asked to pay around 2.25 lakhs every 3 months. Course fee includes the education fee, books and resource fees, hostel and mess charges. The course is affordable as loans are available at cheaper rates because of the college brand and credibility. Even the ROI offered by IIM Raipur is one of the best among its peers which makes it better than many colleges. The cost to study is the same as compared to other premier B-Schools. Fee hike policy or decisions are informed by the college to its students beforehand which makes the entire process transparent.
Campus Life
The college boasts of a state of the art infrastructure with every possible amenities to make the student's journey as smooth as possible. The library of IIM Raipur is extensive and has every possible book and journal. The college has a 200-acre campus where single room facilities are given to its students. It also offers extraordinary sports facilities with many recreational activities within the college The clubs and committees at IIM Raipur are super active and they organize multiple events throughout the year. The annual summit organized in Raipur is the Leadership Summit while its annual management fest is Karmaanta.
Hostel Facilities
The infrastructure of IIM Raipur is incredible and beautiful. It is spread across 200 acres with different blocks for multiple purposes. When it comes to hostel facilities, students are required to stay on the residential campus. Students are provided with a single-room facility with high-speed internet and an attached bathroom which is not that common in MBA colleges. The food quality of the mess is above par and the menu is fixed according to the considerations of the students.
Interview Experience
Once a candidate clears CAT, he/she is expected to appear for a Written Assessment Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) round. The process is common for most of the new and baby IIMs and it is called as Common Admission Process (CAP). A weighted score is calculated after all the rounds and selected students are informed about their candidature. The WAT topics are diverse and can encompass any topic. The next round is a Personal interview where the interviewer asks about your academic qualification, background, work experience (if any). I prepared for these rounds by reading newspapers and business magazines daily.
