My college experience

I chose IIM Amritsar over other colleges because of the high quality of education and impeccable teaching methodology. At IIM Amritsar the professors are of top-notch quality and they provide us with practical knowledge apart from the textbook concepts. IIM Amritsar even though being a 3rd Gen IIM it has maintained 100% placements track record. I used to refer to Pagalguy for all the updates. The admission process is the same as most of the other Top B-Schools, it accepts CAT scores where students need to score above 90 percentile to get shortlisted. Selected students are then required to go through CAP where they take WAT/PI.

The course curriculum of the course is pretty dynamic and sufficient. The course is structured in such a way that helps students in learning about the basic concepts of management and business. It helps students in improving and polishing their technical knowledge and business knowledge by solving the case study's which will enable the students to solve real-life problems. There are around 20 professors in the college for 350 odd students. Professors are highly qualified with many years of experience. Due to COVID, it was all virtual zoom classes up until now. Term exams take place once in 3 months. It is just to check our understanding of each subject.

IIM Amritsar is maintaining 100% placements since the beginning. Summer Internship placements start after one and a half months in the 1st term itself. Once the student is offered a SIP in any company, he/she is not allowed to sit for any other company. There are a lot of companies which come for summers with few well-known companies and FMCG's and other startups too.

The overall fees would sum up to 12 lakhs for two years. It offers a limited number of scholarships to the eligible students based on their scholastic achievement and diversity. In the first year of the MBA program, it awards the scholarship by considering students prior academic records, the performance of the institute's MBA admission process and varsity.

"Aarunya" is the name of the IIM Amritsar's annual fest conducted the month of February or March. It is a two-day fest which includes various competitions and sports tournament. The library of IIM Amritsar is extensive and has every possible book. The clubs and committees at IIM Amritsar organize multiple events and guest lectures throughout the year. It also has it's very own Intra college sports tournament called Kritansh.

The infrastructure is really good. When it comes to hostel facilities, students are required to stay on the residential campus. Students are provided with a few single rooms and restroom sharing facility with high-speed internet. The food quality is above par which includes both veg and non-veg and the menu is decided to keep in considerations of the students.

Once a candidate clears CAT, he/she is expected to appear for a Written Assessment Test(WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) round. The process is common for most of the new and baby IIM's and it's called as Common Admission Process (CAP). A weighted score is calculated after all the rounds and selected students are informed about their candidature. In the PI round candidate will be asked about his/her academic qualification, background, about work experience.
