Department of commerce review

The best thing about this college is the location of the college. It is situated in the centre of Delhi university and the ROI of college is the best in India. The admission process of the college includes CAT score which is the first qualifying round after which we need to give GD and PI to finally get admission at the department of commerce. There are few reasons like The course specialisation it offers in International Business, the best ROI, less fee and good placements which put this college over many of the other colleges in India. I went through the college website, DU website, quora, career360 degree while selecting this college.

To gain knowledge about operating any business on International level specialisation in this course is a must which is provided at the department of commerce. Faculty here are all well qualified with some of them from a very prestigious college like IIM C, etc with more than 30+ years of experience in teaching. The teaching method of every teacher is unique and they teach in their own style in which they feel will be more beneficial for the students and help to gain the knowledge to implement it in the real world. The schedule is followed and thus the exams are held well on scheduled time, we have an idea about when what exams are going to be conducted which helps us prepare well for the exams.

Many companies offer a summer internship to students and every year we see few companies adding to the list of the recruitment process for a summer internship. Companies like the decathlon, bajaj finance, tata, Cargil, FICCI, etc come to recruit students for the summer internship programme. Many companies come in the middle of the session with the live project opportunity offer which helps students get an idea of working in different projects along with the studies and get experience in different fields.

Placements are at par with most of the college in the country and are the best in ROI. Students once enter into the second year become eligible for campus placements. Companies like EY, ICICI, CITI, HDFC, Bajaj, Infosys, TASL, etc visit the college to recruit students for different profiles. The highest package offered is around 18lpa for the domestic region and the average is somewhere around 9.5 LPA. Almost all the students get placed on campus with good packages being offered to every one of them. My plans after getting the degree are to work in the company got placed and start my corporate career journey.

The tution fee is only 9000 and the total fee for the 2-year course is 32000. The fee is even less for some of the students who belong to the non-general category which provide financial assistance to some of the people. The fee has been the same for many years and does not increase as is the case with many of the other b-schools. The stipend which students get here for summer internship is 60000 on an average and final placement is also very good as compared with many of the B-Schools in the country with the highest package of around 18lpa for the domestic region.

The fest that happens in the month of February is Synergy, which the annual fest of the college. Apart from this, the college has many other events like Erudition, Symposia, etc which is the business conclave held by a different committee of the college. We have access to Ratan tata library which has any book one wants to gain knowledge from. The students can access books from the library whenever they want to study. The classroom is well equipped with basic facilities necessary for students. There is also a sports cell which takes care of the activities in sports to be held in college or to go to another college and compete. There are many cells and committees which is responsible for their own activities to be held at different times in the college.

Yes, we have to go through GD and PI after having given CAT to get into this college. GD topics can be random and the topic which I was given was related to the current situation at that time. In PI the question asked were related to my graduation subject and general questions like why I want to do an MBA, why I choose this college, etc. I took help from graduation college seniors and also had a talk with some of the existing candidates of the college who by contacting them over a call and they were a great help to me in clearing all my doubts by answering all the questions I had.
