Life at IIM Raipur

My choice was because of my previous work experience in the same field. But, I would say they are a good number of strong faculty members in the college. Most in Operations and Marketing. The faculty-student ratio would be 1:10. The connect between the faculty and students is also good and the faculties are highly responsive to the interactions with students. Most faculty in IIM Raipur hold an FPM or PhD, either in Indian top-ranked universities and abroad. The teaching method of a number of students are really interactive and they bring out an awesome student-faculty interaction to upgrade the level of learning. Usually, each term was happening for a duration of 3 months. Maybe because of the pandemic scenario college had to go with 2-2.5 months per term. The exams are being asked in a conceptual way. It is not like the reciting kind of exam. You will need a good knowledge of the subject to clear the exams. It is not so difficult to clear the exams.

Students will be getting a real-life corporate world internship during their academic curriculum. A number of domains and roles are offered to students of IIM Raipur, which gives the students a decent experience towards the corporate world and make them ready for their career.

IIM Raipur ensures 100% placements for its students in final placements and summer internships. The summer internship process usually takes place during the 2nd term and 3rd term and final placement happens from the 4th term end onwards. A number of multinational companies arrive at college for placements, The average package offered in IIM Raipur last year was 15.2LPA.

The total cost to study in IIM Raipur is 14.2 Lakhs for 2 years excluding the mess charges. The preceding batch had a total fee of 12.31 Lakhs for the entire course excluding mess charges. We receive the scholarships from NSP only. There are no internal scholarships provided by the college.

Karmaanta is the annual fest conducted by IIM Raipur. We host other IIMs and technical colleges too for various event participations. Because of online platforms, we are yet to explore the real library, but we have access to an online library that includes a number of journals and paid websites. We use Cisco Webex, MS Teams, Moodle platforms for the daily classes and student monitoring. There are around 20+ clubs and committees that have different functionalities. Domain-specific clubs promote the domain in the college and across the peer colleges, by conducting talks and competitions. The alumni association of IIM Raipur is a strong community.

We are yet to experience this part of college life in real. But as per the previous batch and friends, IIM Raipur is providing single rooms to each of its students and facilities such as playgrounds, indoor stadiums, Gym, and Swimming pool facilities. Most students will be staying inside the campus only without renting any place outside campus, This kind of experience gives great peer to peer interactions and great connectivity among students.

The GD process was removed and now the stages are WAT/PI. For WAT, general topics such as inflation and unemployment, recent political movements, and their implication on business. Mostly the topics would be approachable by the student. For Personal interview, it will be an extensive interview covering the candidate's past experience, or studies, knowledge on Indian and world economy and annual budget questions are also usual to be expected. For freshers, more questions will be coming from the past domain of study. Weightage will be given to WAT/PI score, CAT score, work experience, UG, higher secondary and high school marks, there are weightages for gender diversity and reservation categories. My CAT exam preparation was through online materials because of my full-time work. I took the WAT/PI coaching separately in TIME institute, Vizag.
