IIM Shillong, the Campus in Clouds

More often called the "Campus in Clouds', IIM Shillong, has excelled, not just in academics and placements, but also in sustainability which is an indispensable aspect of learning and practicing. The beautiful campus, amidst cherry blossoms along with academics, extra-curricular, placements, and helpful highly qualified faculty is just a perfect combination for a management career oriented higher studies.

The course curriculum is rigorous in simple terms. Our institute's curriculum has a plethora of subjects from marketing to analytics. Most faculty members are very helpful, to say the least. The Covid-19 pandemic has upset not just the participant's way of studying, but also the faculty members way of teaching and they are doing their best possible to make us understand various aspects of management and clarify our doubts.

The highest stipend for summer internships was 3LPA for 2 months. The roles offered for internships were diverse from finance roles to data analysts to strategy interns to marketing interns and a lot more.

The highest package of batch 2020 was INR 48.5 LPA with an average of approximately 18.76LPA. 100% of students were placed in the finals as well as summer internships. The highest stipend for summer internships was 3LPA for 2 months. The majority of the students went into consulting and marketing domain with top recruiters like ABG, ITC, Bain, Delloite with considerable placements in DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Nomura for Finance roles.

The fee structure is a bit in the higher range, which is justified for on-campus courses, considering the huge range of facilities provided to us. Financial assistance in form of need-based scholarship is provided to participants, which are provided after rounds of interviews post-application submission and shortlisting.

IIM Shillong is the hub of year-round activities in form of educational, fun, informative events, which are hosted by our clubs. Moving to an online mode hasn't quite deterred that spirit. We regularly host events and performances, even band performances online. We will soon be shifting from our old campus in Mayurbhanj (absolutely beautiful with cherry blossoms) to our new campus, which is even better due to upgraded amenities.

Most of us are studying from home, so not in a position to comment about the first-hand experience of the hostel facility. But as heard, it has most amenities in old campus hostels and we are awaiting the shift to a new even better, and bigger campus with upgraded amenities.

Personal Interview took place over online mode, which started with general questions to know a potential participant better, followed by work experience, hobby, and a lot of general awareness related questions. GD and WAT did not take place due to the pandemic situation.
