IIM Shillong Review

IIM Shillong is one of the top 7 IIMs of the country with the highest package offered being 48.5 LPA and an average of approximately 18.76 LPA for the outgoing batch of 2020. 100% of students were reported to be placed for the summer as well as final placements. Some of the top recruiters were ABG, ITC, BAIN, Delloite, with a good number also placed in DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Nomura for financial roles. The campus is located in the beautiful city of Shillong in Meghalaya. the students engage in different activities and celebration on the campus. Currently, we are at the Mayurbhanj campus, which has all the facilities a student needs. The cherry blossoms are an added attraction of the place. We will be shifting to the new campus this year, which is even better in terms of connectivity and amenities. The faculties are very highly qualified and they are all very helpful, we call them facilitators here in Shillong. 85% attendance is mandatory for every course.

A minimum of 85% attendance is mandatory for every course. One credit courses have 20 sessions each. A practical, case-based method is followed for learning which puts the students in real-life situations to solve problems. Also, sustainability in business is given special attention here at Shillong, and there are separate courses for the same.

Companies like Godrej, PepsiCo, Pidilite came for the summer placements for a marketing profile. Students were placed in companies like DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Nomura etc for finance roles. A majority of the students were placed in consulting roles in companies like Bain, Delloite etc. Other roles offered were product management, category management, operations etc.

The highest package of the 2020 outgoing batch was 48.5 LPA, with an average package of approximately 18.76 LPA. 100% of candidates were reported to be placed for summer as well as final placements. The highest stipend for summer placements was 3 lac for 2 months.

The fee is Rs 10 Lac for one year. Also, the average package offered was 18.76 LPA, so we can say that the return on Investment is good enough. Also, as we could not get to campus for a few terms this year, a part of the fee was relieved.

The campus is strategically located in the beautiful city of Shillong in Meghalaya. Currently, we are in the Mayurbhanj Campus, which is an added attraction during the cherry blossoms. We will be shifting to the new campus this year, which is even better in terms of infrastructure, connectivity and amenities. The students engage in various extracurricular activities and celebration on the campus. IIM Shillong has a separate club dedicated for the game of Golf called IIM Shillong Amateur Golf Club, which is an added advantage as there are several events conducted for promoting the game which provides an excellent opportunity for networking and learning.

The hostels are up to the mark providing all the amenities a student might need. The first-year candidates are given double sharing rooms, while the second-year students are allotted single rooms. There are facilities for heaters in every room.

The case study round was cancelled because of covid and all the processes happened online. We had only a personal interview round for IIM Shillong. They asked me to introduce myself, followed by why I chose to pursue an MBA. There were questions from my grad subjects and on my hobbies. A few current affairs questions were also asked.
