Remarks

My reasons behind choosing The Neotia University are 1. They follow the ICAR pattern 2. In 2019 West Bengal had only 2 private colleges that provide BSc (Hons) Agriculture one is Seacom Skills University and another one is my college The Neotia University. I find TNU better after a campus visit. The campus area is 52 Acres. They have all the required equipment. Also after connecting with few seniors through social media, I came to know that the facilities are really helpful and knowledgeable their teacher methods make this simpler, and being in 2nd year now, I strongly agree with that. 3. They teach all the practical and fieldwork seriously. I gave an online entrance exam which is conducted by the University on their website, got selected. Visit the campus and took admission on the same day. I used to check 2 websites while selecting a college 1. Collegedunia 2. Shiksha Also visited the website of The Neotia University (tnu.in)

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choose BSc. (Hons) Agriculture because I always prefer practical oriented course and being a Biology student I only have 2 options medicine and Agriculture. I failed to secure a government mbbs seat so I choose my second option.3-4 faculties for each subject. Generally, 2 teachers were assigned for one subject in some subjects we have 3 teachers. 240 students are there in our batch and we have 4 sections. So in a class of 60 students, we are decided into 2 groups 30 each for practicals. Most of the facilities are PhD holders having multiple international publications while some are pursuing PhD and teaching here. Facilities deliver their lectures in the most easy-to-understand manner also provide their personal notes. We have 2 exams per sem one is mid-term of 30 marks and another ends semester exams of 50 marks excluding practical exams. We need to score 50% to pass the exams. It's easy for me to pass exams but it's really difficult to score above 9cgpa.

Placement Experience

3

Students from the 7th semester are eligible for campus placement. Our seniors are in the 5th semester. So, no placement till now. This course is research-based so students are preparing for post-grad. As TNU didn't have ICAR affiliation so we are not eligible for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). This course is also focusing on entrepreneurship. Government jobs like AFO, NABARD are targets of the majority of students. Private job as Agri consultant is in demand nowadays. I want to pursue Agri-Bussiness Management for my post-graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

For our batch, the fee is 42,000/- per semester, out of which 31,000/- is our tution fees rest for examination, lab charges, etc. There is no increase in fees. The University provided 50% scholarship to those who scored more than 80% in higher secondary and also parents income matters. They also offer a 25% scholarship to those students who are residents of District South 24 Parganas.

Campus Life

4

Life on the campus is fun. The annual fest named IMPULSE conducted in the month of February. Book bank facility is available in the college library. You can issue your course books for the whole semester. Additional books and journals are also available but issued only for months or less. Classrooms have smartboard facilities and non A.C. A swimming pool and gym facilities are available on campus. Swimming classes are also given. Girls usually practiced basketball and volleyball every evening and boys practiced football and cricket regularly. Badminton racket and shuttlecock are available in the hostel. Many vocalists and musicians jam in the music room after college. One YouTube channel named SKY FILM PRODUCTION is run by the students of the cultural club.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

2 share rooms are available. Furniture like a study table, chair, cupboard, and one bed is provided by the hostel management. Meals include breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner The breakfast menu usually contains tea and ( bread butter/ jam with banana or puri sabji served alternatively). Lunch includes rice, dal, 2 sabji (changes according to the routine) both veg and non-veg options are available., pokoras (only Monday), salad sometimes and veg Biryani and raita (on Wednesday) Evening snacks have (somosa/aalo bonda/ poha/ upma/ cupcake) with tea. Dinner has the same menu as lunch just roti is also available for dinner. The food quality is good except the breakfast it's too oily. You can easily register yourself for the hostel by feeling a form provided by the university they will allow room number for freshers.

Interview Experience

5

For admission, we need to pass an entrance test which was quite easy and based on Aptitude, basic vocabulary, and logic. Online exam options were also available. We can give the exam from our home. I didn't prepare specifically for this all you need is a good command of English and basic maths.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The exam was divided into 3 parts I.e 1st mock (15) marks,2nd mock(15 mark) and then final (50mark) and rest 20 mark as practiCal and field work.the students who do class regularly,is easy to pass because teachers are awesome..but if anyone miss class then it's hard to understand by reading books. The guard during exam is too hard..so those students who read concentrately are passed easily .. and those who don't read whole year and only read exam night they failed..
