Course Curriculum Overview
Most of the professors are very helpful and highly qualified but the online mode due to COVID-19 had been a little hindrance in both classroom study and peer to peer learning. However, we are shifting back to campus in batches and this issue will be completely resolved in no time. Moreover, we call the professors facilitators in IIM Shillong. A minimum of 85% attendance is mandatory in each subject. Each one-credit course has 20 sessions and there are 7-8 subjects taught in each trimester. The first year's curriculum could have been improved with more teacher-student interactions during case-based learnings. Furthermore, IIM Shillong is the only B-School that has a lot of focus on sustainability in business.
Internships Opportunities
Consulting and Marketing were the most sought after domains for the students with top recruiters like ABG, Bain, DE Shaw, Nomura, ITC, Google, etc. The highest stipend was 3 Lakhs for a duration of 2 months.
Placement Experience
The highest package of batch 2020 was 48.5 LPA with an average of approximately 18.76 LPA. 100% of students were placed in final placements as well as in internships. The highest stipend for summers was 3 lakhs for 2 months.
Fees and Financial Aid
IIM Shillong is one of the top 7 IIM's in the country and is also referred to as the "Campus in Clouds". The fee structure for the entire course is Rs. 10 lakhs per year. There are financially assisted scholarships being provided to needy students. 100% of students were placed in finals and in summers. The highest stipend for summer internships was 3 Lakhs for 2 months. A majority of students went in the Consulting and Marketing domains with top recruiters being ABG, ITC, Bain, Delloite, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Nomura, etc.
Campus Life
The campus is strategically located. In leisure time, one can see the students on the campus engaging in different types of sports. Currently, we are in the Mayurbhanj campus which is absolutely beautiful during the cherry-blossoms season. It houses all the facilities one needs. We would be shifting to the new campus this year which is even better because of an up-gradation in not just infrastructurally good but includes a lot of amenities. There are a lot of clubs and committees which are driven by the students of the institute.
Interview Experience
There is a case-based discussion followed by a personal interview for admission to IIM Shillong. The topics covered in the discussion mainly revolve around the general current affairs going on in the country or around the globe. The GD is not an eliminatory process. I prepared for the same by practising with the concepts and news which I am weak at and which are nowhere related to my undergraduate curriculum.
