Experience of my college life

College life is always a good experience despite the level and status of your college. Oriental is really a good college with its mesmerizing infrastructure, frequent curricular activities, good labs and guaranteed job placement. The only thing lacking is the provision of efficient teachers but then again, you can always learn on your own with little extra efforts.

MP PET (Pre Engineering Test). To get best colleges in MP state for engineering, this the only exam being held. There won't be any interview, based on your marks achieved in this exam, you can pick the seat from available options.

Since the course structure is decided by university and not the college , it was quite good considering the level of knowledge which kept on increasing semester by semester. But if you are looking for a college which provides research facilities or supports you for it, then this is not the one you are looking for.

No such facility you have to join outside for the internship on top of this, they are not even interested in listening your hard work you have put in. But never mind, it will handy in your job search/campus placement.

The most lucrative feature of this college is it's placement at the end, all that matters is job and this college promises that. MNCs like TCS, CTS , Accenture etc appear every year and provide starting package of around 3.35 lacs. Companies like tech mahindra, avaya, amdocs also come but not on yearly basis.

Techfest is an annual event which is one of the huge conducted in MP colleges. This includes different kind of technical competitions, cultural events and social activities so many workshops like robotics, hackathon, prayas etc takes place in 2-3 months.

Fee structure is actually expensive. I paid 60k per year exclusive of bus fee which was 8k. The worst part was even if you stay somewhere near the college and don't need bus, you still have to pay the fee. For hostel it was 36k per annum including food.

No there is no such facility MP government provides different kind of scholarships which can be availed if you can fall in that criteria.

1st of all, this college strictly follows the zero tolerance ragging policy. Gender ratio is quite decent and there is no problem of racism, communism etc. There have been some clashes between hostel boys and local students but those are taken under control now.

Hostels both boys hostel and girl s hostel were quite good and impressive. They were cleaned daily girl hostel had an open infrastructure which provided the fresh air all day everyday. Mess was good but of course not good enough to match with your home food. There would be inspections taking place quite frequently to ensure the security and safety of girls and to ensure that hygiene is maintained.

Your interaction with the seniors matters as they are the ones who are going to guide you. I had a good way my seniors and all they want is a little respect and within no time they become your friends. You can actually learn a lot and enjoy a lot if you have seniors as they not only help you in college life but also in professional life.

Exams are conducted on mid semester basis and are quite chilled. It is actually good to see your level right before the main semester exam. Your points other than theoretical marks also depends on these exams so you need to be careful for same. Labs are quite big, clean and full of equipment's. You will prefer to sit in lab and do the experiment rather than listening to a teacher who has no idea what she/he is teaching.

After the results of PET comes out, you have to select the college and the branch you would want to continue in. Once selected, you get the application form and have to submit the Xerox of 10th 12th mark-sheets. Administration was good enough to help me out to understand that why I was choosing the correct college and branch.

In my 4 years , hardly I came across a teacher who was knowledgeable or had something to do with their subject allocated to them. One thing you need to keep in mind before joining this college is that you are on your own here. I studied Java by joining tuition's outside. Faculties are friendly, cool but not intelligent.
