College Review - IIM Kozhikode

IIM-K has a really pleasant feel to it compared to other B Schools. Even the interview was a good experience. The patient and kind nature of the interviewing panel members imprinted a good image of the college on me.

Faculties here are really patient and easy to converse with and the course contents are easy to understand. However, due to the online mode of classes, we haven't been able to completely exploit this learning opportunity. There aren't midterms for many of the subjects, due to certain constraints, but regular quizzes happen to refresh our learning.

462 offers had been rolled out by 131 participating companies. Mean Salary offered was 23.08 LPA while the median salary was 20.8 LPA. The top 50% of students bagged an average CTC of 26.69 LPA. Majority of the placement offers came from consulting companies followed by BFSI domain companies.

The preparation for placement starts in the first term. Multiple rounds of mock GD and PI are organised to make the student's placement ready. This year IIMK witnessed 100 percent placement in 5 days for the 413 students. Top recruiters were Deloitte, BCG, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, ABinbev, TAS etc.

IIM Kozhikode offers multiple scholarships and financial aid to the students. Based on the performance of a student in an academic year, merit scholarship amount of 25,000/- is awarded. Students with parents having less than 4.5 lac annual income are given Central Sectoral Scholarship for ST students. Apart from these, a few other scholarships are also provided for the students.

Campus life is amazing. We have all the facilities here - music room, common room for indoor games, basketball and badminton courts, gym. The hostels are amazing. IIMK has 14+ fully equipped hostels for more than 1000 students. Apart from these, the college has a library with a collection of 2 lakh ebooks, 35000 books, 6000+ research journals. IIM Kozhikode even has a Museum of Indian Business History.

The college offers the provision of single, double and triple sharing rooms. Double and triple sharing rooms are equipped with AC and personal bathrooms. The hostels are kept very clean and the staff are very polite and friendly.

There was a written test and PI round for my admission process. For the written test, we had to write an essay on a general topic. Keeping oneself up to date and having an opinion about situations is very important. Also, it is important to know the format of writing an essay to properly structure your content. For PI again, keep yourself knowledgeable of the latest trends. And most importantly, understand yourself and where you stand to present the best of yourself to the interviewers.
