My experience as an IT student of AKGEC.

I took this course because nowadays there is a great requirement for software engineers. The admission process is pretty simple as they provide the list of documents before only. However, I wish that our college should provide more practical knowledge to students so that students can be ready to face the industry. Right now, they are not teaching any practical things. Students have to learn everything on their own, and our college focuses only on the theory. However, there are many AKGEC skills labs where they teach you practically like 3D printing, robotics, PLC, coding, etc. Events are organized sometimes like TEDx, but fests are banned in this college as they think students should focus on studies rather than fests and enjoyment. Students can get scholarships for the academic fee depending on their parent’s annual income, etc and cash prizes are also given to the students depending upon their academic performance and attendance, extracurricular activities are also organized by the college.

I took this course because nowadays there is a great requirement for software engineers. There are about 60-70 students in a class and the teachers here are helpful and well qualified, and generally, they have PhD in their respective subject. But the teachers really focus on the first-year students only. And their main focus is on completing the syllabus and are inclined towards getting the best out of students in terms of scoring marks. There is a total of three internal exams before the end semester exams and one internal practical. They are not really that difficult but you can score on the basis of how much you can mug-up which is not good at all and even your handwriting plays a major role as if your handwriting is not clear you can fail an exam even in the main semester exams also.

Around 70-80% of students got internships in different companies like Bosch, TCS, Siemens, etc and sometimes companies like Adobe also give internships and almost every student gets an internship by the end of 3rd year. Some students were good that they even got internships in Samsung for which they have on their own through the off-campus platform with great coding skills. You can secure a good role if you have skills, but this college is not very good to get good roles. So students usually prefer off campus placements because our college doesn’t support them in op campus placements.

Placement for students of CSE and IT branch is best about 90-100%get placed but it’s difficult for students of CIVIL and MECHANICAL branch students. This year about 90% of students of branch Cse, It, Ece got placed. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Havells, etc and sometimes companies like Adobe, Bosch, Siemens, etc also comes. The average package is about 4-5 lakhs and the highest package goes to about 14-15 lakhs.

The fee structure is pretty decent. It’s about 1-2 lakhs yearly and b.tech course fees are about 5-6 pack and the hike in fees is also pretty decent. Students can get scholarships for the academic fee depending on their parent’s annual income, etc.

There are no fests in AKGEC as fests are banned in our college as they think it’s a waste of time and students should only focus on studies so there are only some programs which are conducted in our college about robotics and all but no fun activities so it’s important to join any club if you want to enjoy college life. There are many clubs around different interests which a student can join in the first year only and technical clubs in the second year. One sports event is organized once a year which was held for around 2 weeks that it and a kite-flying competition. The social life or I can say the college life of Akgec is not good it’s like school only with just a little bit more freedom.
