Remarks
It's been around 6 months since my PGDM started and I really feel that this institute has certainly helped me in my growth. The culture here is really different from any other educational institution have experienced until now. The whole management of the institute is student-driven which really makes it a dynamic environment full of opportunities for everyone and every talent. Only limitations I feel is the campus which is comparatively small but that's not an issue when compared to the quality of education and holistic growth we get here. Admissions start after the CAT results and process is fairly simple which is basically based on the entrance exams like CAT and GMAT with a certain required cutoff percentage. After which there is a GD/PI round and based on the performance students get selected. I selected this college because it was the best one I was getting for my percentage and it also fits my other requirements like location and budget.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to pursue a specialization in finance that's why I am doing PGDM- finance and the horizon of learning are immense as I am learning new things every day from the amazing faculty here who are masters in their fields and almost everyone is at least PhD. There is a 1:6 faculty: student ratio which is fairly good from the Point of view of efficiency. Teaching is dynamic and flexible with loads of case studies, presentations, hands-on practical knowledge which really ensures that your foundations are strong. There is a trimester system in the institute and there are 2 exams in each trimester which are Mid-terms and End-terms. Be assured they are not a cakewalk to pass.
Internships Opportunities
There are numerous opportunities for an internship which are available in LBSIM. Companies with all the profiles come to the campus and provide students with options in whatever domain they want to join. Stipend depends on companies and the roles they are offering but still, the highest stipend I had seen was 60,000 and many other companies give good stipends. Live projects and the internship roles vary from company to company but the opportunities are immense.
Placement Experience
Placement procedures start from the 5th trimester and students who are not having any backs in any subjects are eligible for the placements. Many top-notch companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, etc visit the campus who provided the highest package of 28 lacks and an average package of 8 lacks. 100% of students were placed in prestigious companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are hiked by 10% annually but the ROI is really good as the placements are pretty attractive and the job opportunities are quite a lot and after that, it all depends on your skills. All these things together make the institute really attractive for the masters. There are scholarships also for the students with family income less than 8 lakhs. Scholarship of 50,000 is given to 12 students. For stipends, there are many live projects, internships which are required during the course and are necessary too.
Campus Life
There are plenty of fests and events which takes place in the institute. Major ones are Samarth month, Tattva. There is no count of guest lectures and Industry expert talk programs, they are just too much and the immense knowledge you get from those experts is just commendable. LBSIM has got a full-fledged library with all the necessary textbooks available, access to many online portals and journals is also provided to every student. Institute don't have personal playground due to lack of space but they arrange many sports programs and events in the nearby sports complex of which they provide membership. One of the major highlights of LBSIM is the Number of clubs in the institute, all having their particular niche and they all try to promote their expertise through fun events among all the students of the institute. This one really makes the whole environment a lot friendlier and full of learnings.
Interview Experience
The interview process was fairly simple and straightforward. First, the written test was taken for which candidates had to write an article on the given topic which was similar for everyone and after that, there was a Group discussion (GD) round among 6-8 students. After GD round there was the last round of Personal Interview (PI) in which board of 3 members took the interview which was pretty general and mostly about the introduction, general awareness and knowledge and personal interests. For the preparation, there is nothing much is a need, just be confident and fluent. One tip- start reading newspapers.
