COMEDK 134/200 SECURED 279 RANK. I did Mechanical engineering from this college as it was famous for over all development. There were many project clubs which helped us to gain practical knowledge about the theoretical study.
Course Curriculum Overview
Mechanical engineering of RVCE is among the best in Karnataka. Teachers help us in extra curricular activities apart from the regular academics course. The academics course consists of extensive laboratory and practicals. There are many workshops like lathe workshop, engine workshop, design workshop, computer aided design workshop, CAM workshop, and many more. This supports the latest technology and scope for research and development.
Internships Opportunities
If I talk about Mechanical Engineering, there is high scope of paid internship and each company being unique and providing best industry exposure with proper documentation. Though the Stipend is bit less but scope of learning is very high and we generally get pre-placement offer.
Placement Experience
Generally placement is 100 % for almost all branches. Almost all students get placed before the completion of the degree. Job opportunities are plenty, companies visit the campus throughout the year. Job description varies company to industries but generally all student get into their core jobs.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It was very less for me at least considering the merit quota. For entire 4 years the cost was 60 K approximately since I was a day scholar. If hostel fees added it might be a bigger amount. Management quota was around 1.2 lacs per year and mostly North Indian students always filled the same.
Fees and Financial Aid
No Not availed yet, Moreover I do not know much of them. One is there in the placement department, Different companies provide this type of loan to needy students. Not much of the students applied for it. The ones who applied did not get. So rarely anyone applies. They consider it as a wastage of time. Honestly no one takes it seriously, The placement dept of Rvce looks after these scholarships. Good to hear but this does not work.
Hostel Facilities
There are four hostels for the four years of your engineering. Cauvery (3 people in a room) for the first years’, D J Hostel (3 people in a room) for second years’, Chamundi (2 people in a room) for third years’ and Sir. M V Hostel (single occupancy) for the Fourth Years. There are people for maintenance who come to clean your room everyday. The washrooms are decent. But sometimes the maintenance folks need a reminder to clean the washrooms. Food is mediocre. If you are a south Indian you will enjoy the mess food for a year or two. But eventually you will grow sick of it. Like people say the enjoyment of travelling is not in the destination but in the travel itself, if you have the right group of friends you will enjoy hostel life.
Alumni/Alumna
The basic essential function - maintain a member directory. Help networking among the alumni. Setup guidance cell to aid present and past students. Assist the placement cell. Assist students in availing project facilities. Institute a scholarship on merit cum need basis. Utilise/Channelise the 'goodwill' of the alumni to help students. Publish 'Interface' the official news letter of the RVCE Alumni association.
Exam Structure
Exam system is credit based. Every 5 credit subject is having 1 credit for the laboratory or practical. Department vision is: imparting quality education in design, thermal, materials and manufacturing engineering with emphasis on research, sustainability technologies and entrepreneurship for societal symbiosis.
Faculty
All the faculty are highly experienced and well knowledgeable about the respective subjects. The teachers are using both the ways to teach, namely the old way of writing it on the board and the videos & animations & PPTs for giving us better understanding about the subject.
