Remarks

The first time I entered the college for admission purpose, it felt like heaven. The infrastructure was beautiful, the buildings looking royal, the classrooms extremely spacious with all the greenery and neat roads and a statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola at the center.

Entrance Preview

There were no entrance examinations for admission in my college. The only criteria being marks scored in the 12th boards. There was a brief interview with the HOD of the department I had opted for.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum was as good as it should be. Apart from the general subjects of the course opted, there many other courses which are even praised by the Tamil Nadu Government. One being, the Outreach Program. In the second year, groups were appointed a particular slum. That group is further divided into taking care of the elderly, infants, youth, women empowering and more if the situation demanded. Providing hearing aid machines to the elderly, books and stationery for the youth and jobs for youth as well as women. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience where people get to know what if feels like to live in houses that breakdown in a storm, budgeting when there is limited income and importance of education when there are limited supplies.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my college provides internship but not in a direct way. Companies come for part time job offers and the same in conveyed to students. The timings are always flexible according to the class timings. Stipend ranges from Rs 5000-10000.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement is something my college is very good. Many of the major companies in their respective fields visits my college for recruitment purposes. Some of the companies include, Google, Goldman Sachs, D.E.Shaw, Ernst and Young. Packages varies from Rs. 25000 to Rs.40000 and even more, depending on the type of candidate and company.

College Events

4

The major event taking places in my college every year is Ovations. It is a cultural event where Kollywood celebrities are often the chief guests. It is a very colourfull event attended by almost 5000 students every year. Recently, there was the inauguration of a new commerce block in my college and The Honorable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee completed the inauguration and Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu, K Rosaiah was also present at the inauguration. Apart from Ovations, department fests are organised by all the departments with different types of competing events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee in the first year comprising two semesters was Rs.2000 per semester. It increased to Rs.22000 per semester in the second year and to Rs.27000 per semester in third year. The fee structure varies from departments. I felt the fee structure being a bit expensive, but not that expensive for not being affordable for students from the middle class.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the college provided scholarship facilities for those who couldn't afford the fee. With submission of the required certificates and documents, the scholarships could be availed.

Campus Life

5

My college was a all-boys college except for a few selected departments where female students were also admitted. campus life was a experience which would remain intact in my heart forever. The cool breeze, the fresh air with greenery all around, the church, the historic buildings

Hostel Facilities

3

I live in the same city as the college is in. I have never been to the hostel premises as the guard there wont allow us in without the hostel ID. But, the hostel facilities were good with one room fro 2 students and free WiFi. Food in the hostel mess was well suited for the students. There are 7 canteens in the college campus.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the seniors were very helpful. We had a students forum where problems of any kind towards the college staff or management can be expressed and it would be taken care of.

Exam Structure

Mine was a Commerce college and being a student of B.Com, I just had one subject in which I was required to visit the computer lab. But, with all I have seen through all the 3 years, we were quite comfortable with the facilities arranged for lab classes and also for the examinations.

Faculty

4

The faculty were well trained and with loads of experience. I remember one particular professor, bald and handsome, with around 30 years of experience in teaching in the same college. Teachers are dedicated. I say that not because that is usual but I have seen teachers and professors who are examples of dedication to teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect will be accounting that made me choose this couse. The curriculum made me to prepare for future accounting field works and knowledge around the field. The improvements that I suggest may is to add more relevent real life job experience in subject books itself. As per me who is one of a topper student in my college, The difficulty is moderate to me and timing of exams are more enough to fill all the questions.

Placement Experience:

In MCC there is placement but it's not 100% placement, only 10 to 20 from a class of 60 gets placed, so when it comes to placement it's upto to you and your skills. Normaly the placement enrollment starts at beginning of your 5th semester or end of your fourth semester, you can opt for placement or higher study. The highest package was from Standard Chartered & Deloitte it was 6 Lakhs CTC. Accenture, TCS and some well known companies will participate in placement drive. The average package will be Rs.3.5 Lakhs CTS. I'm planning to go for higher studies while doing a part time job after getting degree.
