IHM

The admission is through JEE conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology which is an autonomous body under Ministry of tourism, Government of India. I scored AIR of 2460 in general category and after centralised counselling opted for IHM hyderabad. There are no interviews and admission is through JEE and the institutes are alloted through online counselling on the basis of the all India Rank in the JEE.

The Institute arranges for 6 months of paid internship at leading 5 star hotels throughout India. The internship is the part of the curriculam and the student get practical exposure in hotel operations. The student gets to work in Front Office, Food Production, Food & beverage Service Housekeeping and any hotel operations department decided by the Training Manager. The stipend ranges between 1500-2000 rupees per month, and the student is also provided Food & Accomodation along with Uniform and Laundry Service. Some hotels also give job offers to the students on the basis of performance during the training period.

The total course fee is around 2. 5 lakhs rupees which is to be paid in 6 installments. Since this is a government college the course fee is feasible and much less compared to what some prominent private colleges charge. The best part is the Return on Investment is excellent, since Placement is almost certain with decent starting salary. Moreover there are scholarships as well and Education loan is easily available.

For the all round development of a student, it is essential thqat avenues for partaking in extracurricular activities be available. It is with this view that sports, cultural and literary activities are conducted regularly to enable students to discover and hone their skills in fields that are non - academic of nature. Technical quizzes and contest are also held on a regular basis to promote excellence in technical skills among students. Events such as the Freshmen welcome and Farewell inspire students from all batches to participate, exemplifying the family spirit present in the Insitute. Technical activities are also held on a regular basis to promote excellence in technical skills among the student body. These activities are completely organized by the student community. There are sizable number of girl students as well studying in the college, and there are students from all over the country in IHM hyderabad.

The Ihm alumni is working throughout the world in the service and allied industry and have made a mark for themselves. THe seniors are very helpful and friendly and help a new student settle and adjust in the new environment. Every fresher is assigned to a buddy who is a college senior, and acts as a SPOC to the new student.
