Remarks
The overall campus life is good but can be quite uncomfortable for outsiders.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college's official goal is to provide the most relevant syllabus which is being used in the industries and they say that the syllabus is designed with the help of leading industrialists. It is partly true but not all the curriculum is up to date but is somewhat better than most colleges in Karnataka. But the main problem is with the teaching and administrative faculty, we can see thier dedication and I personally appreciate that, but the thing is that, most faculty aren't familiar with the modern methods of teaching and also some teachers are there for name sake. But overall the campus placements are good and there are a couple of industrial visits in an academic year.
Placement Experience
Companies like Amazon, Wallmart, Infosys, Wipro, Bosch, Sony, HP are participating in campus drives continuously, but the overall high paying package jobs are less. More the 95% of students get placed in my branch which is CSE, and the college administration prepares the students for interviews in a good manner and also allows to participate in all the interviews as long as a job is provided, but if an individual secures a job in the early stages itself, the chances of applying for further companies are restricted by the college in an attempt to provide jobs for every student.
College Events
There are numerous cultural events which promotes the talents of the individuals. But the overall technical events are less and technical events are given as much importance as the cultural events. There is an annual fest conducted once in a year which includes all kind of events and it's conducted in a huge manner, but the rest of the events are generally restricted to the college level.
Fee Structure And Facilities
There's isn't much transparency in college fee breakdowns, but the overall fee structure for the students who come through CET is bearable. The Tution fee for my couse was about Rs.62000 but with all the additional charges, it comes to around Rs.90000. The college accepts bank transfer as well as cheque as the mode of payment, but also accepts card payments on certain fee payments and there is no additional fee which are required to pay during the rest of the academic year.
Fees and Financial Aid
I've not received any scholarships for the side of the college and also haven't heard of any scholarships offered by the college as well. But there will be State and union government provided scholarships which can be availed by applying for the respective scholarships and they will be mostly based upon the caste and religion but some scholarships are based upon merit and economic status as well.
Campus Life
The overall gender ratio is normal. The labs within the college is fairly equipped, and the student and cultural unions are somewhat active but not the best ones. I've not seen any party arranged by the college hostel management but there are a few fun parties and activities conducted by the college administration and student unions. The overall tolerance for gender, religion, ethnicity is good and there hasn't been any cases of ragging as well.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are fine and have some options to choose based upon the price. The is a selection for 2,3 and 4 sharing rooms and also there is option for attached bathroom for 3 and 2 sharing rooms. But the fully equipped rooms are less in numbers, such that it some students have to pick the rooms without any choice as well. Hostel has WiFi facility but with timing and firewall restrictions. Overall performance of hostel WiFi isn't good. And there is no facility of washing machine with in the hostel. The PGs around the campus are really great for male, but there is quite some options to choose from for female students. Also the average pricing of the PGs would be about Rs.6000 and some PGs have inbuilt WiFi.
Alumni/Alumna
As far as I've seen, most of the alumni association is inactive and I've not seen any activities conducted by them.
Admission
I always aspired to be an engineer and this college was closer to me as well. It has a decent reputation within the state of Karnataka and has great influence in the region surrounding it. I chose CSE branch and that branch has almost 100% campus selection rate, and I wrote CET exam ( Common Entrance Test, which is conducted by the state government and ranking will be based upon the combined consideration of State board marks and the marks that we've obtained in the particular CET test. It's probably the least expensive way to enter this college, and there will be an online selection process which will be merit wise but with the consideration of Caste and religion reservations.) Then if we're allotted through the online counseling for this college, we can take the admission directly in the college.
Faculty
The faculty in general is average and there is no shortage of faculty for any course or subject. The average age might be in the early 40s or late 30s and all of the have atleast a double graduation and some have PhDs as well. Some faculty are very knowledgeable and the rest are average who only stick to the curriculum and have less knowledge about the current events themselves. And some lectures are totally misguiding as well. And only a handful of lectures are familiar with the practices in the industry.
