Remarks
The environment and professional standard of academics are what makes IIM-Calcutta what it is. The lavish life in terms of events is also worth noting. IIM-Calcutta is all praise except the affordability part. The fees are too much but apart from that, everything is eye-catching.
Course Curriculum Overview
The academic structure consists of the core curriculum, elective courses, and a mandatory summer internship. There are credit points allotted to the subjects. A student is required to obtain at least 93 credit points out of the total. The curriculum is designed in a way that fundamentals are backed with practical knowledge & application. The term exams hold great significance for the evaluation part. The faculty is fabulous in the way they teach and approach the weaker students.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, there is a mandatory internship rule. The course curriculum suggests that internships are to be undertaken by the students for which certain credit points are also awarded. The institute extends full support to the students in the process.
Placement Experience
The placement procedure for our batch (2018-20) was held in two stages; one for prior work ex and the second without prior work ex. Massive splendid 498 job offers were made to 444 students in top-layered companies. The highest package at IIM-C in our batch was reported at INR 80 Lakhs and average CTC packages listed at INR 27.8 LPA. Around 150 companies visited the prestigious B-school. There was a policy of 'Wait & Hold' for the students to apply to other companies/firms also. The major recruiting companies were - Google, ITC, Mastercard, HUL, P&G, Capgemini, TATA, Colgate Palmolive, Samsung, Amazon, Microsoft, Paytm, Flipkart, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The only thing that thumps the mind is the annual fee of the course. The 2-year fees of Rs. 21 Lakhs excluding hostel, laundry, boarding, etc. are highly over-charged. With this, every student feels that even scholarships provided by the institution are not enough. There are scholarships offered such as funding through Aditya Birla Group, Ratan Tata Trust, etc.
Campus Life
Carpe Diem is the fest for which we used to wait every month. When the dates for the same were being revealed, we would eagerly hoot for the same. The annual fest, Carpe Diem would bring life to the whole academic year. During the fest, several Bollywood stars would glorify the fest with their mesmerizing moves/voices. Business events are also a regular part of the institute. Clubs & committees are formed for better uniformity in various events. The college offers a wide range of facilities to the students from sports to hostel facilities to library to auditoriums, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are very large with proper sanitization. The food provided is also pure and full of taste. The hostel authorities keep an inspection on everything from hygiene factor to discipline factor.
Interview Experience
The interview process at IIM-Calcutta was eminent with various questions asked from different domains. The major questions asked to me were introduction, movies, heroes, health sector, medical institutions, education in India, MBA as a course selection, etc. The panelists were very delighted with my performance as in the end, they praised me. So in a nutshell what I focused on was that I have to remain cool and chilled at the interview. That worked for me.
