Remarks
Admission takes place in February and March. It is mostly offline, on the campus but this year it was also online. I choose this college over others was the brand name. It had a better ranking than other colleges I applied to. I considered NIRF ranking, websites of various colleges and the ranking sites. This college is good in various aspects. Its fees are approx 12 lakhs which is low as compared to top colleges of the same tier. The bad aspect is that the college does not have a host on in the campus itself and the campus area is very small. They do not have sports fields. Plus point is college have Bloomberg terminals and a statue of LAL Bahadur Shastri Ji as we enter the premises
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum gets updated every year as they interact with corporate experts and try to know what is the demand of corporates. Lbsim has a huge alumni base of over 25 years. The faculties here are all PhD holders and teaching methods keeps on changing every year. The placement history of this course is good and is also a reason why I choose lbsim. Teachers student ratio will be around 1:8. We have to do research papers and term papers and everyone needs to do this. We get the knowledge of every domain in this course. The curriculum is updated every year by consulting and taking reviews from the domain expert and the corporate people or alumni incorporates. Every teacher is an expert in their domain. Exams take place in every trimester and lbsim is very particular about the academic calendar. They follow the calendar very strictly and there is a gap of one month between midterm and end term mostly. The worst thing is they do not give leaves between two trimesters.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our college allows for an internship. This year internship opportunities are also less when top companies are coming with nil stipend. Startups are coming with avg stipend of rs 5k - 6k. In placement, there are more finance companies but in the internship, there are more marketing companies. During internship mostly mentors teach the work that is to be done. The process to select students for the internship is mostly various rounds of personal interview and some companies take gd.
Placement Experience
College has campus placement every year. Students of our batch are responsible for our placement. The senior team look for opportunities. The placement is okay. I won't say good but okay. mostly 100% batch gets placed every year but this time due to covid it is becoming difficult. AVG package is rs 6-7 lakhs and highest is 25 lakhs approx. Various companies visit campus including top companies and startups. Most startups come. Students are eligible for placements after the 5th trimester. Offers are brought in every domain and every course.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure of lbsim is around 12 lakhs excluding hostel fees. They mostly take around 4.5 lakhs during the admission itself and then 2 lakhs trimester wise. Lbsim also asks for Rs 30000 as management grid fee and 7000 as alumni fees. They mostly increase 10% fees every year. It includes books cost and institute formals cost. Lbsim also offers various live project and internship opportunities for financial assistance and to build a resume. The scholarship is also provided to the weaker section of society. They give scholarship based on the merit of the student and who need it the most.
Campus Life
Lbsim campus is not too great. It is a small and clean campus. It has an auditorium, cafeteria, library, Bloomberg terminals and classes. Lbsim does not have the area for sports but only the table tennis court. Apart from this, there are many clubs. One club for each domain like analytics, supply chain, finance, marketing etc. They have clubs for extracurricular activities like dancing singing fashion designing and acting. each club has its own social media page. Tatva is the annual fest of lbsim. It is inter college competition and samarthya is an intra college competition. samarthya is conducted in November and tatva in Feb. Though these clubs are good there is less learning from these clubs and more work for social media etc.
Interview Experience
Yes. There is WAT and GD-PI process every year for the upcoming batch. They judge a student on the basis of their prior knowledge and experience and also on the basis of the latest updates they follow. They ask ques based on the latest news that is happening not only in India but also around the world. We were asked about Brexit and the American crisis. They asked about us also like what is our opinion and few academic Ques.
