Reasons to join K J Somaiya Institute of Management

The college location is its best thing and a huge reason for my preference. Also, this particular course of IMC is held in some top colleges of India like MICA and some IIM's. The faculty holds experience in the industry and in teaching for more than 15 years. The fees although being on a higher end are still being compensated by the activities and the placement they provide. Mainly banks dominate the process and the average Package goes up to 10 L per annum. The best thing about placements is that K J has umbrella placements so the candidate can sit for any role if he fits in the criteria of the company without any requirement of the programme he is in. The course curriculum for IMC comprises of the subject from sales and advertising covering basically all the necessary subjects. The faculty: student ratio is approximately 1:30. The batch size of 20-22 is approx 550 students covering all 8 programmes. The faculty are all PhD Holders with 10+ years of experience in the advertising industry. The exams are held in a trimester pattern and the exams are comparatively easy for the IMC programme and for the core and IB programmes it's comparatively difficult.

Some companies like Accenture, Volvo, Nestle, HP, JP Morgan, Crisil, Google, EnY, Britannia, Jio, etc. Came for the summers and the highest stipend offered was by Accenture i.e. of 75000 per month. The roles offered were Business Development, Sales Trainee, Management Trainee, Social Media Marketing and Digital Marketing.

The students become eligible from trim 5 for campus placements. The average package offered is around 10L. The approximate companies that visited the campus were 50-60 and the highest package received in the 2021 batch is 22 lacs p.a. 100% batch is placed for summers as well as for final placements and the role offered is also good.

The tuition fees for the 2020-22 batch is nearly 15L for 2 years with 765000 for the 1st year and 700000 approx for the 2nd year. There is a 50000 fee for the mess and 200000 fees for the hostel p.a. . The campus provides a hostel for both girls and boys respectively. Girls hostel comprises of 90 rooms of 3 sharing each and boys hostel comprises of approximately 200 rooms of 3 sharing. The college also provides summer and final. The placements in some top brands of India. There are umbrella placements so there is no constraint for any programme.

The annual fest of KJSIM is MELANGE which is held in February every year. There is a flagship event of IMC as well which is named as MarCquest. There is a database of K J Somaiya available to us online in the Somaiya Library like Euromonitor, Proquest, EMIS etc. There are various sports facilities available in the institute. There are various courts like a tennis court and badminton court. There is also a huge running track available in the midst of the campus. There are also 28 committees and clubs in the institute for the students to join and showcase their leadership qualities.

Since the year 2020 has been online so we didn't receive a chance to be on the campus and reside in the hostel but as per our seniors the hostel food was pretty good and the mess was hygienic. The room does not have an AC so that is a problem for the people residing in the hostel in summers, but they do provide a cooler and as the campus is lush green there is no need for AC as such.

There are 5 centres for GD/PI in India. My GD topic was HOW DID JET AIRWAYS FAIL? There is a 30% weightage for GD and 40% for PI and the other 30% for academics and your background. I joined a coaching class to get prepared for such rounds and did an extensive reading to be prepared for such topics.
