Remarks
Admission in lbsim takes place in the month of Feb and March. Mostly the process is offline and in the college premises itself but this year it was online as well as offline. I preferred this college over others because of the brand name. This college has a better ranking and fees are less than competition colleges. Though this college has a bad thing as well that it does not give leaves between two trimesters. I downloaded many brochures and compared various colleges. Also checked the NIRF ranking and other rankings as well. And also considered reviews online. The college is very old and has an alumni base of over 25 years. It follows the legacy of the late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji. Lbsim says to follow the steps of the prominent person in the name
Course Curriculum Overview
Course in lbsim is okay. It gets updated every year on the basis of corporate demand. They keep interacting with the experts in corporate and other prominent colleges and decide their curriculum. Though the curriculum is updated but does not include a case-based study. They are very much theory-oriented and do not have practical exposure. As IIMs give case studies of other colleges, lbsim do not. Faculties are good. Almost all of them are PhD holders and if not doctorate they are experts in their own field. Lbsim also has to visit faculties that provide knowledge for the subject they are very good in. Exams at LBSIM are of moderate difficulty. There is one month gap between mid-term and end term. One bad thing is the course is too theoretical and extra that it never completes on time and teachers rush with the course. It becomes difficult to cope up. Mid-term is mostly objective and end-term subjective.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are available in lbsim. It is mandatory for students to take up internships. This year many top companies are offering roles on zero stipends. Initially, hardly any company visited campus. Finance and analytics internships were very few. Most startups came with roles of various domains. Marketing was the main domain that was asked by the recruiters. AVG stipend will be 5000-6000. The highest is 70000.
Placement Experience
Campus placement is okay this year. Companies are not very much interested this year due to covid. Mostly every year 100% placement happens in lbsim and students of finance domain get placed first and marketing companies visit campus later. But this year the scene is totally opposite. Finance students are struggling to get placed. After the 5th-trimester students become eligible for placements. Though the top companies came like Deloitte, KPMG, britannia, icici but still package is less. 25 lakhs was the highest package and 7-8 lakhs was the avg package till now but this year it will not be the scene. Every year companies offer placement in every domain. Students get the domain of their choice.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees of LBSIM is approx 12 lakhs. It does not include the hostel fee which is around 1.5 lakhs per annum. Apart from this they also charge management fees of Rs 30000 and alumni fees of Rs 7000. They increase fees every year. The fees are a bit less as compared to another college of the same tier but the infrastructure is also very less compared to others. They give scholarships to 12 students of Rs. 50000 each. Apart from this students can apply for various paid live projects and internships.
Campus Life
The campus of lbsim is very small and has a library, Bloomberg labs, cafeteria, gym room, table tennis court. There are lots of books in the library and also various research papers. Apart from this, they do not have any sports grounds inside the campus. Lbsim have clubs related to every domain like a dare for analytics, genesis for marketing, finesse for finance, and many more. Lbsim is also very active in cultural performances and has acting, singing, and dancing clubs. They all have their social media handles. Though the main aim of these clubs was peer-to-peer learning now no learning at all is left. they are only working to make their club better. They are totally devoted to Instagram accounts and how to conduct events. I would say it is useless. If you are someone who is not interested in marketing then these clubs will be of no importance.
Interview Experience
Yes. Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of management takes admission on the basis of writing ability test, group discussions, and personal interviews. They give 60% weightage to cat score and rest 40% to prior academic scores, work experience and admission process. They ask questions based on trending news and academics. Some questions are very general just to check your knowledge and stand about that thing. Brexit was a very hot topic that time. Newspaper is a must for MBA aspirant. Read newspapers and follows the latest news. Group discussion has mostly 6-7 members in one panel. They conduct interviews on 3-4 different days.
