IIM Trichy - The place to be

The college is a new IIM that is doing relativity well. The fees are moderate in comparison to similar colleges with similar placement figures and amenities. IIMT selects its students through a common admission process conducted by most new IIMs. IIMT has a campus and provides individual rooms to its students. Travel from campus is convenient with ample availability of cabs and the airport is 20 min away. Trichy is a small town, peaceful and pollution-free. It is situated close to many senic spots for weekend getaways with friends.

The faculty to student ratio is comparatively high. The faculty here are qualified and experienced who keep up to date with the industry. There are 3 terms in each year. So a total is 6 terms in MBA. Each term has 6 courses (1-3 credit courses) and a total of 96 credits need to be fulfilled. There is a choice of choosing electives from term 4.

Majority of internship roles that visit IIM Trichy is that of analytics and marketing domain. IIM Trichy is known as the finance IIM and true to its word, some big finance companies visit the campus to offer summer internships.

Final placements start from term 5. Companies visit and simultaneous selections keep occurring through terms 5 and 6. The median salary secured by students of IIM Trichy ranges between 10-14 lakh. The highest package secured ranges between 18-30 lakh. We have 100% placements and most companies offer pre-placement offers through summer internships.

The total fees being paid for a period of 18 months is close to Rs. 18 lakh. If belonging to SC/ST background, the scholarship can be applied. Otherwise, financial assistance can be taken in the form of a bank loan. The details of which will be shared by the college during and after the admission process. Considering the amenities and education quality provided by the campus, the fees are moderately priced.

IIMT has both clubs and committees which offer leadership positions and team-building activities looked for in a corporate setting. There are acad as well as nonacademic clubs so that students can choose to be in clubs of their interest. The competitions organized by clubs will teach corporate accountability and work requirements. It is strongly advised to join atleast one club or committee.

IIM Trichy offers single room hostels for its students. Being a newly constructed campus, the rooms are well maintained and clean. Currently, there are 7 hostel blocks. There are 4 floors in each hostel and 16 rooms on each floor. The food at IIM Trichy is delicious. Unlike most mess food, the food offered at IIM Trichy is moderately healthy and of variety.

The group discussion usually revolves around common GK topics. Preparing when to speak and how to act in a GD will play an important role. Reading newspaper articles, blogs, and posts to develop a view on topics, in general, will help
