Remarks

The college is associated with one of the largest media houses I.e. Times Group. The name itself is a big attraction for companies who come to hire you. One unique feature that distinguishes Bennett from other colleges is its practical-based curriculum. I am a student of BA-J&MC and our course is based on practical experiences more than theoretical knowledge. The ratio of practical and theoretical knowledge in the curriculum is 70:30. This kind of education is mostly provided by universities abroad. Other significant things are the studios. Bennett University has its own television studio, radio studio, Mac labs, supercomputers. While other universities only tell you how the equipments look like, in this University you will be given a hands-on experience as to how equipments are used/operated. The courses offered cover all media segments may it be television journalism, print journalism, mobile journalism, radio, advertising, pr, event management, etc. Field trips are conducted.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Faculty plays an important role in the learning process. The faculty at Bennett is just amazing. The facility members have been a part of the media industry. They have more than 15-20 years of experience. You will also be provided with a mentor. The mentor (one of the faculty members only) will act as your guide and a go-to person in the University. If you have any doubts or concerns to share, you can visit the faculty, text them on WhatsApp, mail them at any point in time. You will certainly get a reply. When it comes to exams, they are very easy. Questions are mostly application-based. So if you have understood the concept, you will pass with flying colors. A good cgpa (if maintained throughout the course) will also help you to get a good internship or placement.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college offers a compulsory internship at the end of the second year. This internship will be counted as a six-credit course, therefore, it will be compulsory for you to do this internship. If you do not like the internship offered by the college, you can find out internship on your own.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are fine. People get internships and placements depending on their cgpa and their skills that they have learned throughout the course. You will also be provided with a mentor for your internship.

Fees and Financial Aid

The actual fee is 4.95 Lakh per year (including hostel, mess, and other charges). If you are a day scholar you will not be required to pay the hostel and mess fee. Now the college also offers scholarships. It is a merit-based scholarship. This is how a scholarship scheme works 1. 80-85% (class 12th)- 10% scholarship offered 2. 86-90% (class 12th)- 20% scholarship offered 3. 91-95% (class 12th)- 30% scholarship offered 4. 95-99% (class 12th)- 50% scholarship offered 5. 100% (class 12th)- Free education/90% scholarship offered In case you get a scholarship during admission, you will have to maintain a cgpa of 8 or above to continue it in the next year.

Campus Life

5

The campus is big. The classrooms are amazing with projector facilities. The labs are well-equipped. Hostels are spacious. There are a various cafes or places to eat inside the campus other than the mess. You will get the cab and food-delivery options as well. The gym, swimming pool, and sports complex are well-equipped. In short, the campus has everything that you need. Apart from that, there are 15 clubs that cover cultural activities, dance, music, sports, fashion, and lifestyle, writing and debating, movies, gaming, event management, and whatnot. We celebrate every festival and culture with equal enthusiasm.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The rooms are big and spacious. There are no single rooms. The accommodation that you will be provided with will either be double or triple sharing depending on your preferences. The mess food earlier wasn't that great but with the passage of time, its quality has upgraded. The rooms and the mess have centralized ACs.you will get an almirah, a study table-chair, and a bed with a mattress.

Admission

Bennett conducts its own entrance exam. It is a virtual written test which judges your language proficiency.

Interview Experience

4

There was an entrance test that tested the language proficiency (English for BJMC eng students and Hindi for BJMC Hindi students). The people who did not score well were given another opportunity. Their PI (personal interview) was conducted and depending on their performance they were selected. The topics of the written test were related to current affairs and general knowledge. Just make sure your typing speed is average.

Placement Experience:

80% students are placed through DME with a package of 5 LPA to 7 LPA on an average which is quite decent for a fresher entering the industry. The top recruiting are for placements are Bharat Express, PR Guru, Amar Ujala, Dynamite News, T.H.E.M.E.S. Over 90% of the students were placed for internship in Amar Ujala, PR Guru, Aaj Tak, ABP News and Doordarshan. Top roles offered are journalist, content writer, anchor, film maker, and back end roles like video editor, graphic designer and many more. I personally plan to go into video editing after getting the degree.

There are not many direct placement with major media houses although students sometimes get industry exposure through sessions or visits .

Placements of our colleges and mediocre. From 6th semester students become elegible for campus placement. The highest package offered was 6LPA and the average package is 3-4 LPA. Placement depends upon the students applying for placement through college. Many students gets internships or jobs by themselves before even reaching placement cell.

Students become eligible for placement during their final year of college. DME offers several different companies that it has tie ins with for placements to students such as Gadgets 360, Aaj Tak, Myntra, PTI and D&P. 70-80% students get a good placement package. My personal plan following graduation is to pursue my higher education in correspondence with employment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself was nothing out of the ordinary material, it teaches you the basics of the field but the faculties were pretty good and helped us understand not just the basic but a little more so that we could actually be able to work in the environment once we get there. Also they organise workshops which was mandatory for all the students without any extra charge to learn from professional what to do and how to do it best. We also used to get projects which actually helped alot in learning with practice the theory.
