Remarks
This was the best college with the entrance score that I had. Good for Marketing and Finance. The admission process included an achiever's round which happens in January every year. I got admission through my entrance score. The process included a Group discussion round, a Personal Interview round, and then a waitlist based on the score was released. I converted the waitlist in the last round of conversions. also location is a big yes.
Course Curriculum Overview
All the faculties are well equipped with knowledge and experience. The director himself is an XLRI alumini. The majority of the faculties are IIM alumini coming with rich industry experience. The pedagogy is brilliant with Harvard business cases being the basis of core subjects. The making scheme is divided amongst class participation marks, group assignment marks, quiz marks, mid-term, and end-term. This gives more chances for the student to score well.
Internships Opportunities
Every 1st-year student has to complete an 8-month summer internship during the months of April May. This can be taken on campus as well as off-campus. A huge number of opportunities are there for all 4 majors- Marketing Finance Operations and Human Resource. Some companies have the PPO model which is a plus.
Placement Experience
The overall placements are very good at GIM. There are a huge number of opportunities for all 4 majors- Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Human Resource. Also, GIM has been achieving 100% placements year on year with a 5% increase in Average placements each year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is similar to most Tier 2 colleges. You spend approximately 20 lakhs in 2 years including Tuition fee, hostel fee, and your personal expenses. Those who are able to clear the achiever's round get a scholarship from the college for the first year of study. For the second year, the marks of the student in the first term are a basis for a scholarship.
Campus Life
The campus life of GIM is one of the best. You get to live in a city famous for beaches and parties, so the atmosphere is very chill. There is a bunch of activities happening in the college every month. The huge cluster of clubs and committed are responsible for all these events and activities. The annual fest INCEPTION is taken care of by the Inception team. The gala goes for two days filled with food, music, and competitions. Then Prayas the sports club conducts a whole lot of tournaments and games both indoors and outdoors year wide. Other clubs include Mecca, Hriday, CCIDT, Healthclub, Samarthan, and more. The classroom is well equipped with technology and the library includes an audiovisual conference room.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is compulsory for every student. For 1st year students, the hostel is double sharing whereas for 2nd-year students it is on an individual basis. Rooms do not have an AC. For food, there is a fully functional mess that serves healthy meals 4 times a day. Apart from that, there are 2 vendors serving juice and snacks. For grocery and Maggie, we have Jaggu Bhaiya's store on Campus.
Interview Experience
The GD was based on a social problem. The group had almost 12 candidates and the discussion was taken in a healthy manner and not in the form of a debate. I practiced for the same with the help of my friends who were also preparing alongside me. The PI was very smooth, they asked me about myself, some technical questions from my undergraduate, and a few personal questions related to hobbies and interests.
