Vishal Gaurav's Review On Sapthagiri NPS University, Bangalore

COMEDK. My rank was around 6500. I chose this college because at that time (in 2007), this college ranked 15th among the VTU colleges in Bangalore. And also this college had some reputation in Electronics and Communication Engineering department.

Course structure for Electronics and Communication branch was good I would say. It covered most of the practical aspect of what we studied in its laboratories. Of course, one can not simply rely on faculties to detail each and everything to everyone. One has to be attentive to the basics and explore the options available to gain advanced knowledge. And the 'options' available were good enough for me.

No, my college did not provide any internship during my period of stay. As of now, I have read few post related to it on the Facebook page of my college.

Most of the companies that came for placement was for the IT sector. And they hired students not just from Computer Science and Information Technologies branch but also from Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical branch too. During my time in the college, the companies that came for placements were: Infosys - 3-4 Lac per annum, TCS - 3-4 Lac per annum, Cognizant - 3-5 Lac per annum, Robert Bosch - 4.5-5 Lac per annum Accenture - 3.5-5 Lac per annum.

During my days, the tuition fee was 1.25 Lac/year. Also there would be some college fees of around 17-18K other than tuition fee. This fee structure was comparatively expensive but not too much when compared to many other private colleges in the country.

There were no scholarship/loan facility provided by the college that I know of during my days. But the university VTU provided the toppers with some scholarship and medals.

The campus life will be great if you are good in mingling with people from all around India. Students come here from all states of India. The sex ratio is 2:1 (Boys:Girls) approximately. I had one of the best times if my life there as there was good unity among students staying in hostels. There were fights and arguments sometimes.

There were two lab subjects in every semester and each lab was conducted once in a week for 3-4 hours each. So, It was good and wasn't too hectic. Also, as per VTU, the internal exams for each subject was conducted thrice each semester for 25 marks each. And average of best two marks were recorded as internal marks for each subject.

Overall faculty quality of my department was good. But I have always followed the faculty members through the college website. And there have been many changes since then. Our department HOD, who was also an excellent professor, has also changed. But still I can see many known faces. And most of them are good.
